I need to get one to fit a double tank, and also slr/tlr for IR use. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm seeing 'antistatic' and 'cotton versus nylon' and I don't want to waste money on a bad purchase.

    Any advice greatly appreciated :)

is this for outdoor use ? IE have you any alternatives at all ? I've tried a changing bag approximately once, and never did it again. My hands got so sweaty trying to manhandle the film onto the reel that it started to stick and bind on the reel. Eventually I just had to click the reel apart, tear out the film, dump it into the tank as it was, close it up, and go have a coffee. Later that evening I locked myself into my bathroom with the lights out and put it on as normal, no hassles.

Also, WRT IR usage, make sure it's actually opaque to IR. I dunno what the story is with that. I know some fabrics aren't though. One of the reasons you have to load 35mm IR in darkness or as subdued light as possible is that the felt light trap on the 35mm canister isn't IR proof. Also if it's old kodak or the newer efke without an AH layer the light pipes through the leader and into the canister. I'd search or post up somewhere where there's some IR film guys and check to see what they use.

Incidentally, if this is just for SFX I wouldn't bother. I've never been extra cautious with it and I've never had problems with light leaks (at least that I can see :) )

SFX at the moment Daire, although I have a lead on some other stuff...

I don't have anywhere dark enough to load film into the tank. I live on a main road so loads of lights, and there isn't a room in the house with no windows. Attic included. And before you say 'Wardrobe', you haven't seen mine..

I'm just a bit sick of having to go into town or up to college to process. I was hoping the cotton bags would counteract the sweating thing?

I guess they might do, I probably have clammy hands anyway :D
Actually, for 35mm I have a Jobo 2400 which can be loaded in complete daylight ! You dump the roll into the centre spindle and hook up the leader, then screw on the top and start rotating the insert. This gradually advances the film onto the reel. Then when you're done you screw down the centre bit which cuts the film and makes a light tight seal, take off the top and pop out your now empty canister. It's cool. Takes a lot of chems though, and every now and again screws up spectacularly and chews your film to bits

I got one in Gunns recently, it's a large changing bag, in fact it's so ridiculously big I could probably get changed inside it myself.

How much Scr33n, if you don't mind me asking?
