    I was in Newbridge Traditional Farm over the week. First time out there, it's excellent, highly recommended. Especially for any of you city folk. :) The sights, smells and sounds certainly awaken (shock) the senses. :eek:

    Here's some pics I took and dickied about with afterwards. All were taken withe the 70-200L f4 + 1.4 extender. Finished them all off with a desaturation in Lightroom, then into Photoshop with some of the usual retouch techniques then... into BW Workflow Pro and added a Brugundy tone. The rest of the set are here in Pix.ie.

    The dove and the black swan for me, I presume the line through half of the Boar is deliberate, had to look at it a few times. Quite a dark series too.

    Nothing like the smell of Benji in the morning to wake you up

    Thanks guys. Went out a bit on a limb with this. Didn't want to portray happy, cute and pretty farm animals. I kinda wish I'd brought the 24-70mm lense for this too. I missed a lot of potential shots because of the focal distance. Though it was a good exercise to be shooting solely with such a long lense combination. The fourth shot is really two images crudely attached to each other. It's downright ugly, I know... but thats the point.

    Oh man. These are so awful, they're brilliant. Really harsh! And the compositions are way out there, In a good way. Really suits in black and white. :)

    Not a photo expert here, but I'm really not liking the lack of colour. I think a lot of them, the last four in particular, could really have benefitted from colour. I know you're not going for happy-go-lucky farm animals, so it probably makes sense to have the colour the way it is, but I'm not really feeling it to be honest.

    That said, the photos themselves are pretty good looking. I like the 'portrait' shots and I don't know why, but I'm quite fond of the first photo. It looks mean or angry or something to me.

    Did you spend long out and about taking the photos?

    Edit: I like this one, too;

    I get you for the maybe the last two. But I think the chicken and the swan shots really work in monochrome.

    It was really a day out with Jessica. So most of my time was spent entertaining her. I brought the long lense with the 1.4 teleconverter attached. On a 1.6 body, meant i was shooting from a range equivalent to 156-448mm @ f5.6 or narrower. Wasn't ideal for the close in quarters. But it was an enjoyable exercise all the same.
