Just keep in mind that it's rated for 500g - that's half a kilo! Not a lot of weight so don't go leaving your DSLR unattended while you use the self timer

Good post but it's only for P&S cameras. I don't think I have a lens <1kg never mind the body.

Aldi are getting camera bags and SD cards in next week:

Anyone know if the bags are any good? For that price I'll probably pick one up anyway, just wondered if anyone has one?

I had that tripod back when I still used a compact (2004-2005). It fell apart after a week.

yea, I'm really pointing out the monopod, like I said, for 6 quid, even if it fell assunder, SFW!

I'm not sure how useful a 50cm (about a foot and a half) monopod is really.... unless you're sitting down I suppose. Even for €6.

For the sake of a couple of yoyos extra I'd recommend this gorillapod copy.

Much better option. That one claims to hold 3kg!? The original Joby one only holds 800g, though that there doesn't have quick release, which would be handy. Want to get one of these myself for out and about night shooting.

Also note that the tripod is tiny.. around 22cm.. and the monopod is the tall one.

The tripod is a tabletop model. (They are good for holding remote flashes behind objects that are in a scene if you have something to trigger them with.)

at that price, just get it but accept that the place you might end up using it is in the bin ;)

It's not bad at all. I'm happy enough with mine....wasn't really up to the job of holding my d300 and 105mm macro though(which probably weighs a heck of a lot more than 3kg!), but it's perfect for my smaller/less heavier lenses and very handy for mounting a remote flash or small camcorder etc.

Well, I bought the lidl tripod and monopod.
Total waste of €7! Hardly stays standing without camera on it!
Ah well, I might find some use for it eventually....

Great for fending off rabid dingos too!;)

Did actually see a dingo later that night, as it happens!

But no, Gorillapod was great to have. Brilliant for sitting on walls and wrapping around barriers etc. Went out with a proper tripod and Gorillapod, ended up selling the tripod to save space and weight and had no regrets.
