2000 e46 320i 2.0 lt 5th gear 3500 rpm@120 km/h

It has a short fifth gear ratio but engine is not roaring at this rpm.

I see 2.2 lt newer engine revs around 2700 in 5 series.

Does anyone have facelifted e46 3 series with same engine(2.2 lt 170hp) ?

My car doesn't show the revs, but it's a subaru vivio 658cc:o(5gears) and doesn't like going over 100km, even at 80km people(passengers) find it hard to hear when they're on phones, I have to slow down if they want to talk.

It idles between 700 and 800 rpm most of the time, and peak output is up near 8000.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges. The 520i 2.2 does 3250 and the 520i 2.0 does about 3500 with MANUAL gearboxes (different ratios).

yeah have a 2001 e46 2.2 manual its ~3100 rpm @ 120kmph ... not far off the 520i - need to take the bodies out of the boot!
