ANOTHER reboot? - ffs now!....totally mliking the cash cow for every last drop!

i think making a sequel to Nolans batman would be milking the cash cow.

A reboot is going to be a different batman, in a different universe.

Its a lot riskier doing a reboot.

I'm gona leave it there so,let em moan:D A bit like the Transformers 3 thread where a few posters claim they won't go and watch it yet discuss it to death now.Their posts will be pretty invalid when the movie is released and they continue discussing it yet haven't watched the movie.

Anyhow back to Batman-Tom Hardy should be awesome in it judging some of his past work.

Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket) and Tom Conti (Emily's father in 'Friends' :P) have been cast in The Dark Knight Rises.

While Conti's character is unknown, Modine will play a character called 'Nixon'.

11 year old Joey King as also been cast, he was the kid in 'Battle: Los Angeles'.

Id be gutted if it is Nolans last Bat flick.

Its been known for a long time that the third film is his last..he might have an influence on the planned reboot, maybe even a producing credit. Also Nolan's Superman wont be appearing in a Justice League film either.

How many different universes are there in Batman comics, how many time it been re-boot in the comic

A re-boot is fine. I wish it wasn't so soon, but its fine

The DC world has 52 Universes :)

Another reboot is a ridiculous idea.

It's too soon to re-tell the origin story, but I don't see why future Batman films would have to take place within the same universe.

Infact I'd rather a new director stayed true to him/herself rather than attempting to imitate Nolan.

I would like to see Batman without the Armour and just wear the grey clothing instead.

Yeah, a reboot doesn't necessarily mean they are retelling the origin story all over again, just that they are re-imagining the series with new actors and a new director without holding themselves to the style and continuity of the previous films.

De facto reboots have been common in Hollywood for years, they just weren't explicitly acknowledged as such. I mean, Timothy Dalton's Bond is hardly the same Bond that Moore played, even though Casino Royale was officially the first reboot. And Schumacher's Batman films hardly take place in the same universe as Burton's films, even though there is some continuity in the form of actors, etc.

Reboots are just sequels, but because they are established upfront as a clean slate they are more likely to appeal to talented directors and auteurs who would have previously scoffed at the idea of doing a sequel. And in this case it has the added benefit of allowing Nolan free reign in how he concludes his Batman trilogy. If he wants to kill off characters, etc, he's free to do so and doesn't have to worry about future films.

Maybe we should see a movie that focuses more on Bruce Wayne and Wayne Enterprises.
    Like; Wall Street or something...

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,268 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

Exactly, it will (hopefully) give us a kick ass conclusive trilogy to savour repeatedly and won't restrict future incarnations to any continuity. Would love if it ended up like the animated movies where they're doing adaptations of specific graphic novels....one can dream.

    Why?
I'd be interested to hear your reasonings

I really doubt they'll do the origin story

Because we've not even finished the current reboot franchise and I think more reboots will only serve to further skewe the stories.

Nolans has not been perfect but it has been quite good and I think the franchise should finish on this high note.

I didn't like the sound of a Reboot, especially since they haven't even released The Dark Knight Rises yet. But it actually sounds interesting:
Similar to the way Marvel has rebooted many of their comicbook film properties, including the recently concluded Spider-Man trilogy, to fit in with their new Avengers film universe, DC is rebooting their movie properties to fit their Justice League film plans.

Marvel don't have rights over the Spider-Man franchise for start......

after the bane/twitter viral activity, three clips have appeared on youtube

    http://www.metro.co.uk/film/865083-the-dark-knight-rises-viral-videos-released-showing-gotham-city-on-fire
with all the chaos going on, & the last video talking about an arkham outbreak, is Nolan going for a Nightfall style storyline?

Definitely not watching any clips or trailers...

The clips aren't from the film. As with most viral campaigns, I suspect they have little more than a tenuous connection to the film.
