Krystle nightclub - why do people pronounce the name wrong?

Why do people call it Krystal (like the champagne [cristal])?????

It's clearly spelt phonetically imo.

The place is pretentious enough without people being more pretentious about it.

Ha ha next we'll have people calling Crystal Swing, Crystal swing

So it should be pronounced "Cry-stel"?

I wondered why the owners spelled it like that, considering its closest homonym is gristle - Pronunciation: \ˈgri-səl, -zəl\, : cartilage; broadly : tough cartilaginous, tendinous, or fibrous matter especially in table meats.

Or maybe they meant it exactly that way I'm sure those who go there like to think of themselves as cristal rather than gristle... :P

Well I pronounce it Krys-til. Have from the very start.

And when it opened first as far as I could garner everyone used to call it that. But slowly this Krys-taal thing crept in......

V pretentious imo.

Can anyone shed a light on why they personally pronounce it krys-taal when it is spelt krys-til?

See, if that was the case, why wouldn't they have spelt it 'Krystal'? the '-le' on the end of a word is (correctly) pronounced "-ul", not "-al", e.g. gentle, fickle etc.

Why would the owners deliberately misspell it if they wanted it to be pronounced like the champagne?

(BTW the champagne is pronounced cri-STAL because that's how you pronounce it in french).
