Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Something weird has occured on the desktop of a machine I am using, and for the life of me I cant figure out why it has occured. A chunk of icons have renamed themselves from their original ones to "l(1)" "l(2)" "l(3)" "l(4)" etc.

They seem to be mainly system ones - My Computer, My Networks, My Documents, Recycle Bin. But, it has also hit some general applications including CDBurnerXP Pro, Adobe Reader, Edit Pad etc.

    Any ideas?

Did you rename anything on the desktop yourself, if these and also been selected at the same time, they would also get renamed.

No, it was done by itself.

Is it even possible to rename multiple icons at once manually?!

You may have or someone else may have inadvertently dragged the original icons causing duplicates to be created which would be assigned the same name but would have a number associated with each copy?

Do you have "Show hidden files" enabled?

    Not that anyway, but thanks.

I think this is just Windows being odd with no easy fix tbh. Something went wrong somewhere.

Its not file associations, its file names. I can still launch the applications fine. :)

If you select multiple icons and click rename, they'll all get the same name with the number appended. F2 is a shortcut for renaming files so my guess is there was several icons selected and F2 was accidentally pressed.

Unless I am mistaken (iv tried it again) - you cant do that with Recycle Bin for example?

Though, I am beginning to wonder if thats what they did, if it works. May have just been pressing the keyboard without noticing.

Hmm I missed the Recycle Bin in your OP. You're right you can't do that with the Recycle Bin or My Computer either actually. :o
