Can anyone recommend a good (honest, if there is such a thing) Solicitor in Sligo town. Or advise which to keep away from.

    Thanks in advance.

Some of the solicitors specialise in certain areas of law but at the moment with the lull in business that may have changed.

    Anyway,

I would recommend Ann Hickey in Wine St.

I would have to recommend Ann Hickey also, extremely good and is very personal in the way that she actually gives a **** about your issue and will fight for it as opposed to just waiting for the cheque to come through

She is IMO F****ing useless, I know someone who used in her a separation and she promised the earth and delivered nothing more than would have been achieved in going to mediation - mind you most of these solicitors are the same apparently in these separation cases, keep clear of solicitors in general at all costs - with no conveyancing work they will treat anyone involved in a case as a cash machine and try to spin the job out - a most untrustworthy bunch of individuals you could not care to meet.

Strange one that.. Family member has used Anne Hickey for a separation and got it lickety-split. No problems what so ever with the service she provided, but there is always someone who isn't going to be happy/has had a bad experience.

I really like John Creed on Stephen St. An extremely genuine, down-to-earth man. Not exactly sure what area he specialises in though...

I used Kelly&Ryan a few times and found them very good.I also found Joe Keyes of kilfeather Keyes very approachable and easy to deal with.

Isn't Michael Quigley the solicitor's solicitor? Reckon this is telling of how he is regarded.

is there any solicitor able to take on the ulster bank and win (I am a small builder who cant meat yhe repayments)

Give a call to the Legal Aid Board first:
    http://www.legalaidboard.ie/lab/publishing.nsf/Content/Contact_Det_Sligo
and see where you stand. It's free.
Going to court with a bank is a lottery regardless who your lawyer is, and can/will be expensive with no guarantee you'll win.

    Best of luck!

Also the financial ombudsman might be able to help.

Also have a look on www.askaboutmoney.com You might be able to get advice from someone in a similar situation.

With respect, they're all really nice I'm sure.
But who's willing to take on the might of the Ulster Bank.
You know the saying about approaching a wounded animal!
