has anyone used either (a) aesthera ppx laser or (b) IPL laser for the treatment of sun damage spots on face or skin?
can anyone recommend a clinic? the treatments seem to be very expensive (a few hundred) for just a few minutes...and 4-6 treatments are required. so could cost 2 grand!
    any advice would be great.

Has a dermatologist recommended either as a course of treatment or are you considering it yourself?

Microdermabrasion might be good. Also, using a glycolic acid face wash like this could be a good thing to start with. You should use a spf 30+ once you start using something like this as you'll be more sensitive to the sun. http://www.feelunique.com/p/md-formulations-Facial-Cleanser-250ml

    Hi,

Pigmentation of the skin is a condition caused by melanin becoming trapped within the skin’s upper layers and is normally due to excess sun exposure although there are sometimes other contributing factors such as the contraceptive pill etc that can contribute to the issue.

IPL treatments are seen as the best way to treat pigmentation on the skin but it is important that you use a good IPL System as there are many cheap ones on the market at the minute. The reason they are seen as the best solution is that they do not damage the skin itself and target the pigmented cells below the skin’s surface before these cells are then dislodged and moved towards the skin’s surface before brushing away to leave a lighter shade on the pigmented area.

I have not used the aesthera ppx as I use the Alma Superior Pro IPL at Urbana in Dublin for the treatment of pigmentation with very good results on most clients to be honest. The price of the individual IPL treatments can vary a lot from place to place with some doctors and clinics still living in 2007 with prices of €250+ so I would advise to shop around before your treatment. Also if you are paying €250 per session in a doctor’s clinic is the doctor doing the treatment or a therapist?

Go for a consultation in at least 2 or 3 different places and then decide which is best for you based on the knowledge of the staff and their past experience in treating pigmentation along with price.

Each Treatment should take around 30 Minutes and most people need the 3 at least for the best results. Other treatments may be needed prior to the IPL sessions to give a better result such as microdermabrasion or Glycolic Peels as this will remove any dead skin from the surface and brighten the overall appearance of the skin while allowing better penetration into the pigmented cells for the IPL.

You should also wear a high quality SPF 30 sun block all year round.
    Hope this helps.....
    Paula
