Wonder where the penalty stroke came from there

McIllroy needs a couple of birdies and a bit of luck to make the weekend, the double killed him though because he looked like building a bit of momentum prior to that.

McDowell putting together a nice round, hitting lots of fairways and greens.

He managed to make 82 yards from the bunker to rough, picking up a penalty stroke thereafter. Will need to get more info later but he took a double at the hole which was only playing index 9. Looking over his card he was in the rough off ten tees which probably says it all. That combined with his poor putting and he had no chance of doing anything.

PH birdied the last so the double has cost him the chance to get in on the probable cut line. McDowell is having a great round, -6 for his round and the tournament.

Ridiculously awesome shot from Mickelson just there.

How do you judge the power on that kind of shot?Just experience I suppose but that seems a million miles away from anything I could do.

Michelson tearing it up. -4 through 7

The Funk also doing very well. Was -6 through 13 but after dropping one.

With Rollins also up there, i'm hopeful of making some money!

Who finds it a little odd when Butch looks straight down the camera when answering a question... Looks a little awkward if you get me!

It's common practice in the States.

Did they show it again, i remember it first time round. Can't believe it's 10 years ago  Clark was a good player in his day, he must have walked straight into the sky job when he finished playing which must have been early as he's hardly much more than early to mid 50's now.

    :D

It must be part of Sky Sports media training. It is hilarious. David Livingstone is the best(or worst). It's like he's counting to 10 before looking straight at the camera and nodding with a creepy smile even while someone else is talking. Very American but it really doesn't work imo.

This has become a bit dull in my opinion.Apart from Westwood and Allenby, the leaderboard is fairly mediocre.Nobody there likely to do anything too exciting. And watching Ben Crane is utterly tedious.Even Westwood and Allenby themselves are the kind of players that will just keep things steady in a final round, won't be too adventurous.Think it's been a fairly ordinary tournament for one considered to be the 5th major.

what, do you expect them to start firing at tight pins ? it would be a different story if they were trying to catch a leader

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Tim Clark putting together a serious round, just taken a 1 shot lead. Course is playing a right bitch today so Clark's -5 is by far the best so far.

Excellent round from Clarke so far.

Had a tenner on Love at 120/1, very good week for him. Great seeing him find some form again.

Not all the time, no.But taking the odd chance here and there might not be a bad thing.Take the Masters for example.Phil wasn't far behind going into the last round and he still took chances, went at most pins.Westwood mostly par'd his way 'round the course, playing it safe, and lost by a few in the end. This is decent golf, sure. But I wouldn't call it exciting. At least Clark is injecting something into it at the moment.

    FFS Lee, that was wayward.
Clark had a great chance to close it out there!

Have both Glover and Love 50c each way. Both 125/1

    Hopefully glover can hang on

67 is outrageously good from Clarke. Won't be topped imo, possibly tied.

westwood bottled it again.pity cos he seems like a nice guy and i wanted him to finish it off.i think he played the wrong shot at the wrong time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Looking down the leaderboard there and only 17 players have broke par today out of the 70 who started the day. Tough.

yeah but he got away with murder off some the drives he still had a shot.
where i think he really messed up was the second shot to the par5 i think its the 12 or so.he hit a 3 wood up even thou he couldnt reach the green and put himself to close to the green and in the rough and had to make a big putt for par.he really needed to birde that hole.

yep, some poor shot choices were made too. but missing fairways is a big deal when youre playing into small, caked & fast greens.
