When was the Longest Ever Final

    Abit of a debate going on in the house about when was the longest final and who played it. What time did the longest final end at?? (excluding this final - cos this will def go down in history!!)

    1985 final, 14 hours 50 minutes

    In 1973 Ray Reardon beat Aussie Eddie Charlton 38-32. I am also sure previous finals were longer that that but cannot find any.

    There's an interesting table of W.C. winners since 1927 here.

    One of the scores in 1952 is down as 94-49. I don't really understand what the match format was - don't think it was a best of 187 frames though :D If that was the case, Clark McConachy could have been 44 frames behind with 45 left to play :p

    That 1952 match isn't 'official' though is it. Officially Fred Davis won the 1952 world championship?

    possibly the match was played out over a certain time frame (a week?) - some of the earlier tournaments gave a bye into the final for the champion with the remaining players (maybe only 6 or 8 guys) playing off for the right to meet him (a bit like the format for Chess championships).
