Hi everyone. Just wondering if anybody who is studying this course has any information about it, and/or if they would recommend it. Cheers, Paul

    Hi Paul.
I am not doing the course (doing analytical chemistry) but shared some classes with nanotech in first and second year. They shared chemistry with us in first year, both lectures and labs. Also had biology classes with them, 2 or 3 per week. They also had maths lectures (foundation I think) and physics which was a problem based learning class. As in you are given a problem and sit down with a group to work it out. Open book as far as I know.
In second year we were together for some chemistry classes again. Inorganic and nanotech, and physical chemistry. And some labs again. Not sure of the other classes, they did programming, maths, and physics in some form.
Class was fairly small and you are in with other course for some classes, such as chemistry and other physics based stuff.
Will be talking to one of the lads later so will see if any of them want to come on and help or give a name of some one to ask.
Good bet would be looking for the course head and emailing them about it.
hope that was of some help.
good luck in what ever you pick!

    Thanks for the reply! :)

Have Physics & Engineering (if you can class it one) as my Science subjects at the moment.

Unfortuneately ordinary level Physics, because I would'nt be the strongest at Maths (also ordinary level) and thats my main concern about chosing this course, the level of mathematical difficulty, and the fact I dont do Chemistry.

I'm confident enough if I applied myself, with a clean slate I'd be able to keep on top of the Maths. Just afraid of falling behind and then, losing interest you know. As for the Chemistry, very little knowledge of it.

With all that said, this course stood out to me straight away and I've developed quite an interest in Nanotechnology since I first came across it, but at the same time you can see my concerns.

Thanks again, and any more info would be appreciated!

Right, the course was described to me as one that would give you good grounding in science. In third year you decide between physics and chemistry which you want to continue doing.
Lots of info on course here
Entry requirements are at the bottom of the page and a big button marked Enquire about this programme! Use it.
There are maths learning centres in Kevin street to help if you get stuck.
Email the head of the course and ask about the maths. Don't worry about the chemistry, it's great craic! I could be biased though. :P

I'm graduating from this course this year.

It's a basic science degree witn physics and chemistry as well as mathematics, programming and some other things. I specialised in physics in 3rd year so will be graduating with a physics major.

Good course as afterwards you have the skills to go into physics, chemistry or programming based jobs.

    Any questions ask away.
