Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You can't honestly want to see this guy in the Champions League?

I would love to see harry walkin out onto the pitch flanked by the suave jose or one of the portuguese/spanish coaches.

It would be like when you get that slightly embarrassed feeling when you see brian cowen alongside sarkozy or an older senile relative trying to converse with a well educated, smartly dressed foreign person. Itd be a mixture of pride, embarassment and confusion

A lot is riding on this for Mancini. No CL, no job next year.

I dunno about that. I think there's more than a good chance he'll get another crack at it if City fail to win tonight.

Can't wait for this. I'd like City to win myself but either way the league wins. It'll be nice to see a different team in 4th. :)

I'm actually kinda glad work was manic today on the train home heading to sheridans in Galway for the match and I already got the shakes about this match

This is the most I've looked forward to a Premier League match in a long time. Hoping Spurs can finally shake their embarrassing tendency to fall-apart at the most inopportune moments.

    From BBC

1908: Right, here's definitive team news: Gareth Barry in for Patrick Vieira. Ledley King and Heurelho Gomes start for Spurs, as do Aaron Lennon and Peter Crouch.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭syngindub

Any teams been announced yet? I can understand city being favourites with the bookies as they are at home but this new keeper of theirs may be a factor also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Seriously why target the keeper? Fulop has played over 40 games for Sunderland. At one time he was the preferred keeper over Gordon.

Not targeting the keeper at all. In fact i don't know that much about the keeper but as you mentioned he has proved his worth.
It's the fact that he has only played 1 or 2 games up to this with City and it's worth taking this into consideration thinking about the outcome.

Fulop ain't bad at all, good at coming to get tha ball. The only thing he didn't have vs Villa was communication with those in front which led to a goal.

hoping now i can get a decent stream.

It's an interesting argument of who to support if either of them are not your team. As a Villa fan City can already blow us away with regard to the transfer market, if Spurs get Champions League they should be able to do the same, at least in terms of attractiveness rather than just money. Any teams around villa's level are probably thinking the same.
However if you are at a club who hope to go for league championships then you'll probably hope Spurs get it as you won't see them as challenging for that. It's an interesting split.

I think it might be better from a Liverpool point of view if City win. Regardless of City's final league position, they're gonna be spending a ****load of money this summer. If they fail to get into the Champions League, Mancini could well get sacked, and they have the money to lure a far better manager to the club. Whereas if Spurs get CL they'll have a good chunk of money to spend and will be able to attract some big players, ones that they wouldn't otherwise. They could establish themselves as a big force in the PL by getting fourth whereas City are going to become a big force eventually regardless of tonights result. I'd rather be competing with City and possibly Arsenal for CL next season than be competing with Spurs as well.

This is all of course assuming that Liverpool are going to be a good team again next season, which unfortunately we have no real reason to expect. If Liverpool are going to be equally **** again next season then I couldn't give a **** who's competing for the CL places

This is my only comment during the game:

Whoever wins this will be playing CL next season, hope it's a cracker. Would wish City best of luck, but y'know...:D

I guess 2 games in quick succession is asking a bit much out of him in this stage of his career.

He was excellent vs Villa I agree.
