Any utopian aspirations you may have are pure fantasy.

But your a socialist at heart:confused:

What a way to live, you really beleive in something but discredit it as fantasy that can never be realised and turn then to advocate & endorse a system you have already said you are not aligned with,

I'm not some sort of right wing capitalist - I'm actually a socialist at heart, but I'm also a realist.

    Like I said, I'm a realist. Socialism doesn't work.

it's the case for me too. is mise you're absolutely correct in your assumption there in my case anyway.

In an ideal world, where people weren't so bloody retarded (listen to yesterday's Joe Duffy show for proof), socialism would work. But people are stupid, and others are not, and others are lazy and others are not.

And as I argued earlier in this thread, the sociopolitical system that offers the least resistance to our fundamental nature (both as a society and at an individual level) is the one that's going to win out eventually.

To me, capitalism gives us enough room to be the greedy monkeys we truly are.
That's not to say it should be free market capitalism all the way, it should be controlled as much as is possible for the general good.

It's why I'd vote Labour even though I'm not a 'worker' in the Marxist sense. It's the same reason I love seeing resistance to globalisation but don't buy into most of the leftist groups manifestos or ideals.

With socioeconomic systems, there really is no black and white solutions, just lots of different ideas that have their respective strengths and flaws.

It's as easy as falling off a log to truly believe in a socialist ideology, as any sort of market transaction (including the transaction of labour) can be seen as being exploitative.
But when you view things from an economist's perspective, it can be seen as being totally dependent on incentives, and that makes sense too.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that each model of looking at society seems completely valid within it's own sphere of thinking. There's an underlying rationale in most of them.

Which way we look at society should be determined in a pragmatic way imo. Whatever works for the people as a whole should be the way forward. Unfortunately, thinking that there's some sort of noble proletariat out there is simply delusional. There's not.
The proletariat is mainly made up of people nowadays who turned down oppurtunity in favour of living off the state.
    And I don't blame them.
The state incentivised having babies with no means of providing for them and I know if I was 17 and had a kid, and had the choice between working 40 hours a week (in manual labour) for an extra 100 quid than I'd be getting on the dole, there's not a chance I'd do it.

    Anywho, I'#m, rambling

I know i am only picking one point out of a very well thought out & lenghty post and hate when it is done myself so i am not ignoring your other points but in reference to this part above,

Logic would say, if we accept your view of it, that through education we can strive for a more socialist driven society, i am genuinley interested for you to elaborate further exactly how & where to begin this?
