If you think of him singing about the Irish Economy instead of a girl this song makes a lot of sense…

And in the immortal words of Super Furry Animals:

Oh man, you laugh you lose at this...I have no idea why but I couldn't stop laughing at this...sick bastrd I am but funny is funny. In a nutshell, she had some sort of weird reaction to a flu shot - she would lose control of her body unless she ran or walked backwards (major lulz). So the internet being the internet, some compassionate fecker noticed she looked like she was dancing to Dubstep and make this very tasteful video. LOL :D
Don't worry if you laughed, it turns out she was proven to be faking it...phew!

Haven't heard that song in years.......Steely Dan sampled by the Super Furries along with a recordbreaking amount of swearwords in the one song.

    that's the equation for win.

    Interesting article:

World renowned violinist busks in a metro station in Washington on a $3.5m violin as an experiment to see if anyone pays attention. Long read but well written.

    Anybody ever heard of Kickstarter?

Seems like a fantastic idea. Basically it’s a platform for Entrepreneurs and Designers to launch new ideas where they get pledges/backing through the website in the form of cash which allows them to get the idea off the ground. And the benefit for the pledges/backers is they get discounts, etc., on the new product.

Here’s one example, and I think the most successful one to date. They were initially looking for $15,000 to get the project off the ground, and they managed to raise $941,718

It's a watch strap to turn an iPod Nano into a wristwatch.

    Great looking design too.

It's a brilliant idea. And at least this way it's cuts out greedy investors. All the profits go to the inventor.

Sorry to be cheeky, but I'll just leave this here. This Thursday. House, tech-house & techno.

I'd actually quite like to go to one of your gigs some time Frankie. Colin's a good guy and a great DJ. Pity its on a school night. However my boss is away. Hmm. Anyone game?

I'm playing on Friday in the Good Bits (The Cavern) should be a laugh, there are a few from here coming in too...

best of luck to all the Boards boys playing up there in Dubtown this week. Her indoors would never buy into the idea of me skipping off for another session so soon after last weekend so won't get up to anything this week. Just remember, when the crowd get going is the right time to bang on some anthemic rawk \m/

Excellent idea alright - I was all set to add one of my many dreams but looked through the FAQ and see its only US at the moment! Ah well, that hoverboard will have to wait another while...

I am so sick of my crap broadband from Eircom, can't even get another better service in Lusk - not much faster than fcking dial up at times, unreal in 2011.

Just tested my UPC line, which was recently upgraded to a 20mb line.

    1138295137.png

    Sorry :D;)

    That said, it's extremely temperamental.

It's ridiculous though, how long it's taken for it to be rolled out.

  • Subscribers Posts: 8,322 ✭✭✭Scubadevils

Its bloody unreal, I know Lusk isn't in the heart of Dublin but its hardly the middle of nowhere! I've tried the speedtest thing before and got about 1.5 or thereabouts, don't know what's up with the speed tonight. Thing is, I'm paying for bloody 3mb broadband

UPC don't offer broadband in the area but I see finally on the Eircom NGB coverage map that Lusk should be upgraded by March.

I want high speed porn now damn it!

That's the thing, if you went into a pub and paid for a pint and the barman only filled the glass a third of the way there'd be war. It's stupid how they get away with it.

Yeah I ave the 20mb too, only getting 12 right now but was up at 18 the other day. My god its great. Scuba I really do not know how I would get by without at least moderately fast internet, it would wreck my head constantly.

  • Subscribers Posts: 8,322 ✭✭✭Scubadevils

I don't know how I get by either, I suppose because I haven't had the luxury yet of a faster connection and don't really know any different! When its at 1.5 or so I get by ok with it... but nights like tonight are a disaster, I was trying to watch a youtube clip earlier and it just kept stopping and starting, seriously wanted to put my fist through the screen!

Ok so enough of my bitching. In other more positive or in fact mind-blowing news, has anyone experienced DTS audio yet? I've a few discs that are DTS audio and tried them on my home cinema system over the weekend, the sound is absolutely incredible - genuinely like nothing I have ever heard before, and I have heard a lot of good systems over the years. Its a real shame that music these days is pretty much all about compressing and losing sound quality, and then on the other end of the spectrum you've got the like of DTS audio which will probably fade into obscurity like SACD, DVD Audio etc because either people don't/won't pay or don't know what they are missing, which is probably the case for a lot of people actually... they've become used to inferior sound.

Yeah I'm so excited about when they are going to start bringing out movies on Vinyl - The audio and video is going to be of a far far higher quality. When this happens, anyone using digital technology will just be insulting the movies really...

Sorry could not resist, made me giggle to myself...

I watched Inception on Blue Ray on a 50" HD TFT the other week. I had not bought into the super HD+++ thing really, but I was fairly blown away by the quality. Thing is though, when watching normal tv, everything looks different. Watching some normal tv series that I know well, it was not like I was watching a tv program, but it was so real it was like I was in the audience watching actors act out a scene. Kinda spoiled it for me.

I'm definitely sold on the quality of HD and Blu-Ray, unbelievable difference in picture quality. But it hasn't amazed me anywhere near the level of hearing a DTS audio CD!!! Not sure what 'rock' or pop etc would sound like though in DTS, doesn't strike me as being suited to it - electronic is perfect and I'd say classical would be great too.

For example, typically on the home cinema system if I want to listen to a movie at a loud volume for good effect, it would be at around -10db approximately. A DTS audio CD was almost blowing the house down set to -25db... I couldn't bring myself to higher the volume up any further.

I do want to add a reel to reel solution at some stage too :P

Edit - to note also, I know volume doesn't relate to quality but the sound was amazing as well as being very loud!

What sort of home cinema gear are you using?
Finally splashed out last year on a TV and surround for the den/office at home but I like the room filled with sound when I'm watching a movie so, like my mixing gear, it can only be used when I've the house to myself, so it gathers dust most of the time.
I bought an Onkyo set up for the sound but I'm always curious about other people's systems.
