    Any reason given?

Apparently the management wouldn't let them close the college for the day or summat?

    Ok a few things here,

One of the main sources you quoted from is alligned with the norwegian petrol companies, would it fair to say you wouldnt trust 100% the information fed out from said interests seeing as they have a 78% take from the current gas field being brought onshore?

The figures you quoted actually work out at a 2.58% success rate for finding off irelands coast not 3% but due to the percentage difference in exloration between 4211 exploration and appraisal wells & 155 that a 2616.8% increase in activity of exploration btween the two which leaves the possibility of finding more wells highly likeley.

The approximation of €1B for 10 wells would at your percentage success rate mean we would find 2.5 wells for the money, so for accuracy if we spent €2B we would possibly find 4 maybe 5 wells, then if we say we at least take 10 billion from each well which is quite a low estimate we make a return of between €38 & €48B euro, i think the general population would be happier with €2B of whats left of our pension reserve fund going on this rather than into failed irish banks in order to pay off the EU banks with nothing to be gained only interest payments.

I dont work for an oil company & you dont have to to understand their is wealth off our coast that can be found & returns handsome profits, perhaps the hierarchy in your oil & gas company have carefully tailored an official company line that does not upset the apple cart in the petro chemical industry.

Now seeing as you do actully work for an oli & gas company, can you offer figures that would be the industry norm as an average to be made from a well if we were to find 4 or 5 with our €2B investment seeing as i estimated at only €10B per well?

sorry, maybe i wasnt clear. i have absolutely nothing to do with the oli industry. im also not an expert at all, i just did a little bit of investigating to see if we were going to be the next saudi arabia.

all the sober analysis i have read points to very small amounts of very hard to get gas. if it was viable we would have the oil companies banging on our door to get started. this simply isnt happening.

I would love to know who these bond holders really are, I have a sneaking suspicion some of them may be an organization highly connected to the Swiss that shafted the Irish badly in another nature in recent times if you catch my drift..

You have confused me now:confused:, do you or do you not work for a Gas & Oil company?

sorry, in my first post i cut and pasted a post from a different message board, the property pin. he works in the industry not me.

like i said i did a little snooping around and realised that most of these figures and facts about there being trillions of dollars out there come from prospectuses that are written to try and attract investors to exploration projects.

the fact is, the people who are being asked to put the money up dont believe it, and that is why they are not even looking. to get people to look, its very likely that we are going to have to offer exceptional terms.

even the 'corrupt shady deal' appears to be very standard for a low yield region. its very disappointing, and frankly not fair, but it appears to be the situation. imagine if we had the oil that norway has.

we are going to have to come up with something else to get out of this one. or invade scotland (semi serious).

    List of bondholders

I notice we're bailing out Pioneer now too - I thought that they'd be getting enough money out of me already for a pair of CDJs and a mixer, never mind cleaning up their dodgy investments :P

Ahh, our fine defenders of the public out west have been exposed for what they are, these lads are exactly what have earned certain members our the gardai the name 'PIGS',

Excerpt from recording by confiscated video camera in a Garda vehicle on March 31st, 2011, after the arrest of two women at Aughoose for public order-related offences relating to the Corrib gas project.

“Crusty camp” is a reference to the Rossport Solidarity Camp where the two women had been staying.

Garda A: “Who is them two lassies, do you know the two of them?

Garda B: “I don’t know the second one, the first one is with blonde hair.”

Unidentified garda: “She was up on the tractor earlier on.”

Garda A: “It’d do no harm to get the second one’s name again?

Garda B: “She’s some Yank. I don’t know who the f**k she is.”

Unidentified garda: “ Is she a Yank?

Garda B: “It sounds like it, it sounds like it, the accent anyway

Unidentified garda: “Sounds like a Yank or Canadian.”

Garda B: “Well whoever, we’ll get Immigration f**king on her.”

Garda A: “She refused to give her name and address and told she would be arrested.”

    Garda B : “.......and deported”

    Garda A: “And raped.”

Garda B: “I wouldn’t go that far yet….. She was living down at that crusty camp, f**k sake, you never know what you might get.”

Garda A: “Give me your name and address or I’ll rape you.”

Unidentified Garda: “Hold it there, give me your name and address there, I’ll rape you.”

Garda A : “Or I’ll definitely rape you.”

Unidentified garda: “Will you be me friend on Facebook?”

They're just a group of lads - talking ****e together. To think that just because they're Gardai, that they're not going to act like 90% of the rest of males is a little pretentious.

They're idiots for saying that sh1t while being recorded.....but that's about it.

I say far worse pretty much all day in normal conversation. the rossport sympathisers crying foul at this is just silly.

I wouldn't have a whole lot of warmth towards the Gardai, but when this was played on the radio this morning, it was pretty clear it was banter and not malice. The transcript reads worse than hearing it.

Sad indeed - I know the place reasonably well. As a young impressionable teen on his first foreign holiday with his mates, stumbling across this place in the wee hours, the place was packed with all sorts of characters up to all sorts of debauched activities. I remember being told it was some sort of SS headquarters, then wandering upstairs for a dance and checking out some incredibly pornographic art in the studios. Ah... good memories :) I returned there a few years ago and it seemed much more laid back, even the tunes were more minimal. Any idea why it's closed?

    Wo there,

    1. I dont think your accurate in the slightest to offer 90% of all males talk this way when in each others company! More like 10% would & 90% dont.

    2. They are in a professional situation, if this is how they perceive the people they are supposed to be POLICING it speaks volumes about the type of Guards they are.

If yours or my missus was at a protest in town do you think it is right for Garda to be talking about them in this way any more than it being acceptable for a boss to talk about them in that manner, NO & they are PIGS.

Anybody, garda or not, that talks about someone like that is a PIG.

In fairness though, I'd be with Mise on this one. I know some of the stuff lads say can be fairly shocking, and personally I’d draw the line at the rape comments, but that said, I certainly wouldn’t be saying stuff like this in a professional context.

Gards are afforded extra status in society, (just look at the reaction when a Garda is killed in the line of duty) and with this standing comes a responsibility to act in a befitting manner.

Whatever they say on their own time is fair enough but they shouldn’t be saying it while on duty, simples.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,401 ✭✭✭jtsuited

if that's the case, that's the most accurate impression of two culchie guards i've ever heard.

I have many a story about garda from Crumlin station, tallaght station, rathmines station, terenure station & the whole point of it is that i can tell you about garda from them stations that are PIGS & yes they have definetley earned the name & some who are sound guys & have proven their humanity in situations i witnessed first hand.

These guys are PIGS and as Baz said i dont chat amongst friends threatening rape!!!!!

Only by a certain part of the media. If a Garda gets killed on duty, I for one just think it's a guy who has experienced an occupational hazard.

Tabloids like to ham it up, but a Garda or a soldier being killed on duty is just an inevitability of the job.
