Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In relation to smoking, I honestly reckon it will be a thing of the past fairly soon. I've just given up using Champix tablets.

It rocks in at a ridiculous €136 for a months course + the €60 you need to pay the doctor to get the prescription. But have to say it works and it works well.

Was also talking to a pharmacist who said the success rates from it are extremely high.

All we need now is for the cost to come down.

The list of possible side effects they print in the booklet is hilarious. I hope some of the people testing didn't get them all.

welcome to the fascinating world of brain medicine. Cost/benefit analysis, benefit/side-effect analysis, ridiculous initial costs of the newest drugs, etc.

If what I've read about Champix and its success rate is in any way accurate (and the side effects don't start causing serious problems -which they easily could), you'll see the price drop dramatically in the next few years. Pharma companies will be copying and competing and falling over themselves to have their own brands, prices will come down as a result, and then eventually the patent runs out and you'll be able to get the drugs for next to nothing.

Capitalism ain't all bad!!!! (Winding Is Mise up!!!!!:p)

I'm going to have a few hours to kill in London on Friday - I have something planned for the morning but my flight's not 'til 8pm later........any ideas on something to do?

I'll put it in the 'maybe' pile. At the moment it's a toss up between The Tate Modern, The Old Bailey (apparently you can go in and check out the trials) and Camden.

Totally forgot he was on. Have caught him on Paddys eve last year and year before. 2 years ago was amazing (and was first night clubbing in over 10 year), last year not so much. Was put off by the fact this was more a live set than a DJ set. Good to hear yis had a good time though.

It was about 50/50 live/Djing, maybe a bit more Djing actually, Scan x and Benjamin Rippert came on and off during the night. Crispy Bacon was class, extended a good bit by the 3 of them.

Did anyone Go to Andre Lodemann in twisted pepper on Sat? I've only discovered his music recently and looked up resident adviser last night to see is he gigging here soon, kick in the balls!!

<rant>Camden is horrible. I thought id take a trip down there last month and immediately became disillusioned with western society - stall after stall selling the exact same ****e - mostly leater clothing - and thronged with Spanish tourists standing in the most awkward places everywhere you walk (street corners etc)....<,rant>

Only side effect I had was a sore stomach for 20 minutes or so if I took the pills without food and loads of liquids.

On another note, has anyone ever been to the mindfield thing that's on in Merrion Square this weekend http://mindfield.ie/. Anyone any recommendations on what to see at it.

I'll probably knock that one off the list so - I had thought that it would be a good chance to observe hipsters in their natural environment.

the end of the world in 24 days would totally take all the pressure off me at the moment

As an aside, the key to picking up any new instrument (for me anyway) is to immediately figure out how to play the opening riff from Smoke On The Water. After that it's all just noodling.

I wonder what that's about? I was hearing spanish everwhere I went in London, and that was at the beginning of March which isnt exactly the height of the tourist season.

I wonder is London to Spanairds what Sydney is to Irish people?

theres even more in bristol apparently. tbh, the spanish love the partying and brits arent exactly shy. work wise, for all you read online about recession over their you would barely know there is anything wrong when your on the ground. all my mates are working anyway.

maybe it is their sydney, who knows.

Maybe they had a meeting and figured out that the armada was too easy to spot, so decided to go over in groups of 5 or 6, sneaking under the radar as it were, and meet up later. In Camden perhaps.

****, maybe they'll all be blowing trumpets on the 24th of May. Of course! It's all so obvious now.

Off to CT I go to tip off the believers!

    128, the bitrate of champions

    screenshot20110428at023.png

I think that's included in all new phones' public transport mode. It automatically lowers the bitrate and adds a bunch of gain for maximum loudness and quality on the back of the bus.
