Not a fan of the stuff I must say. Then again, it was my first experience with any sort of tea. Never drank the stuff til about 3 years ago.

I'm a coffee man meself. If any of y'all are into coffee but don't have a proper espresso maker at home, there's one for about 75 euro in Argos. Does the job perfectly (once you learn how to do it properly).
Was actually thing of getting myself a proper coffee maker. Was looking at the Gaggia's, quite expensive though. Is there much difference in coffee makers?

not really. essentially all those espresso makers are is a big steam pump. If it can give you the pressure that's all that's needed.

I'm sure all the fancy mega expensive ones are great but the one I got, this one is awesome for the price. Makes perfect espresso and is pretty good for steaming milk.

Cool. There's a huge difference in the price.

You mentioned that you need to make sure that you do it right. Is it that difficult to get right? I'd imagine that it's as simple as grinding the beans and then just sticking in into that hold thing? No?

God no, there's a good bit more to it. A relation of mine is a coffee machine vendor guy and he explained to me in the beginning that grinding your own beans isn't a good idea for home machines. It's to do with the fineness and pressure. Basically most home machines, excluding the monster huge expensive ones don't have enough constant pressure to get the most flavour and oils out of self ground coffee beans.

You can get LaVazza black espresso (the ground sort of block) in pretty much any tesco etc., so go with that. You also need to tamp the bejaysus out of the cofee before you stick it in as well (there's normally a little flat thing for doing it on the machine).

Straight forward enough but it takes a good bit of practice to get a big frothy guinness-type head on the espresso.

Then the milk steaming takes a good bit of practice. Let too much air in and it's too bubbly, don't let enough in and you may as well just be adding heated milk.

Geat fun, and I thoroughly recommend anybody who loves coffee to get one of these machines. Saves a fortune.

A Barista? Isn’t that the name?

Was looking at the rather expensive Gaggia and it has a15 bar pump pressure range, which is the same as the one you have so apart from the name I’d love to know what the actual difference is. Either way, 15 Bar pressure is ridiculously high. Most industrial applications in industry don’t go anywhere near that high.

I actually have a Coffee Grinder at home, but I got it for grinding spices. The one I have uses blades to grind but apparently you need a burr grinder for best flavour.

Funnily enough, you very rarely, if ever, see people in coffee shops doing this.

Yeah, main reason why I’d like to get one. I’d probably get a coffee most mornings but at over €3 a pop, it’s just too expensive.

Why do I have this vision of some jittery stubble flecked fella in coffee stained sweatpants sitting beside an espresso machine, one leg shaking, screaming 'No! Goddamnit! Too bubbly! TOO BUBBLY!!!'

I was reminded of this in another thread, but does anybody know the little trick when using a lift/elevator that allows you to go to whatever floor you want without it opening on other floors to let people in?

Basically, you hold down the floor number you want and the door open/close button at the same time and it enables the function.

I've tried it a few times and it does actually work, but not with all lifts. Think it's supposed to be a function that allows lift engineers to use it hassle free.

Ah the first part was more rhetorical than anything else.

Tamping? Is that something to do with Tampons? What's that got to do with coffee?

Actually, it's the sugar, part of the reason why pills work is the use of glycogen by the receptor sites that are effected by the 5-HT release, seeing as most people won't eat on pills and could have their dinner at about 5 or 6 before heading out and then proceed to dance all night it is entirely possible that blood glycogen levels could be dropping about 12 hours later. As such, this would inhibit the effectiveness of the drugs in their system.

    I reckon.

I don't take any sugar with my tea :pac:

Costs $15 which is not exactly cheap but I needed to get on to sort some stuff... bit of a horrible journey so far, delays etc. It's 1am irish time I left my house at 7am this morning, and I still have over 3 hours to go to get there. It will all be over soon, It will all be over soon, It will all be over soon....
