Fine pair of jabs on her. Would have been great if the camera panned around to show an empty dance floor.

Jesus. I wish more DJs were like her!

How about this (check some more of the top ones, there's some great ones):

Some of the stuff she's doing is hilarious! Would love to see the crowd reaction alright, especially how far away they are. Only makes sense for her to be gyrating like that if she's up on a stage and they're a good bit away

The people behind her aren't half as into it as she is...

Just a headsup, although that great 50% discount code is now gone, its now only 29e for the year for the Soundcloud LITE account. Said ****it and ended up upgrading myself today.

Looks like I might be heading to Thailand for a few weeks hopefully in August - who has been - recommendations? I was there briefly before, did bangkok, Koh Samui and Kao Tao - but want to do something different. Ideas?

Over the years, Voina staged many actions: police station take-overs, anti-homophobic faux-lynchings in malls, stray cat throwing into swanky restaurants, anti-Medvedev public orgies and all kinds of ruckus. Their most recent target: the headquarters of FSB, the offices of Russia's KGB incarnate Federal Security Service. Our source: Voina themselves.
In the early morn of Che Guevara's birthday, the group psyched out bascule bridge guards and made their way to the center of Liteiny Bridge. In 23 seconds flat, Voina painted a 213-feet-tall, 89-feet-wide phallus dubbed "Giant Galactic Space Dick."

Never been to Thailand but would love to go. Actually, can anyone recommend any decents bars/clubs in Dubai that are worth visiting? Myself and the missus are heading there on Wednesday for a week and want to see as much of the place as possible.

Chang Mai up the north is awesome. By far and away, my favourite place in Thailand. Much less commercialised than the the islands and the people are super-friendly - in a genuine way too - you don't feel like a walking dollar sign there, which is how I felt a lot of the time in the likes of Bangkok and Samui et al.

There's lots of cool treks you can do up there. And if you like your drugs, you can get to smoke some opium while you're at it. Only did it the once myself but it was really, really nice. Probably a good thing you have to travel 5,000 miles and trek 3 hours into the jungle/mountains to do it. But seriously, the trek was the highlight of my trip - incredible experience!

SuperSi I've been to Dubai 4 times as I have family living there. It's great place, certainly not for everyone - some people hate it since everything is no new and there is no real organically grown culture etc - but for what it is it's pretty cool.

My favourite bar in the world is "360" - its on the end of a pier by the Burj Al Arab. Get on the Platinun List - makes it easier to get in. Go to the Buddah Bar - brilliant experience. It's like a giant reseraunt with a bar at the side, playing typical buddah bar music, but by 11pm the DJ cranks it right up and plays full on techno - bizarre! You also get loads of hot lebo chicks in there too - nice for some eye candy. I also went to a full moon beach party at the Atlantis hotel on the Palm, that was pretty cool! Oh and the "Barasti bar" is cool on thursdays (wekend there is friday and saturday - sunday is a working day). You can get cool deals where you pay e.g. €50 in but you get free food and booze for the day.

If you want a normal bar there is one on the sheik zied road - I can't remember the name but its an ozzie bar with super tacky decorations, but they have cool cover bands on and its great fun.

The Burj Al Arab is €60 to go in for afternoon tea, I brought my parents has a present - its great experience but deffo not necessary. The other hotels are probably just as impressive, if not moreso in some ways.

Bars aside, make sure to go to the top of the Burj Dubai, its brilliant. Go to the water parks, either Wild Wadi or Atlantis. If your wife wants to go shopping, let her go on her own. I nearly topped myself walking round these massive shopping centers with the girlfriend.

Oh and be prepared it is going to be HOT HOT HOT!!! I always go between november and march. June/July is 40 degrees +

Let me know any other questions I'll try to think of more suggestions.

-- Oh and whatever you you do, stay away from a place called the York Hotel. We asked a random taxi driver to bring us somewhere fun with hot girls to look at - big mistake lol. When we went in we were the only white people in there, they were all wearing tracksuits, and it was jam packed full of hookers.

to be fair, sounds like i'd have a great time there.

LOL!!! Aw man it was horrible. A funny experience but properly creepy. Sleazy dudes all over the place and fat ugly hookers trying to rub your cock at the table - which on every one is a large bowl of popcorn. Classy! Someone else told me if you go to some of the really nice swanky bars you get the properly amazing high class Russian hookers. If you were so inclined you'd probably need to remortgage your house, but you can certainly go in and have a laugh with them while they try to talk you into it!

that's the fcukin weirdest sounding thing about it. wtf?

Certainly not the weirdest thing, but it was pretty strange that when you walk into an actual nightclub and the standard issue is put big dirty bowl of popcorn on the table - there's no way I'm eating that after some fat slapper has been digging into it probably right after giving some indian labourer a handjob in the jacks.

LOL. That's funny man. Eh, bit scary for me but its an interesting thought. I've heard people always do mushroom milkshakes at the full moon party etc - never done that might give it a shot. Is the full moon party worth going to? I hear the music is absolute cack. If I can't get there for the full moon party are the half moon parties any good?

Basically I'm going with a friend of mine I lived with in Australia and I have not seen her in over 5 years. We used to party very hard back in the day so I'm sure it will be carnage, but you have to be so careful in Thailand. I know people that got busted, ok you can bribe your way out but still. I remember getting some weed of a taxi driver in Koh Samui, smoked it back at the hotel, so so stoned, got super paranoid and flushed the rest down the toilet as I was too scared I might get caught! I would not last too long in the Bangkok Hilton!

    Haha.

When I was in Thailand with a couple of mates a good while ago, the last night when we were in Bangkok we wanted to go out and have a few beers in a bar, nothing mental, just a few quiet beers without being surrounded by a load of psycho Thai birds asking you to buy them a drink. At the start of the trip we were in club one night with each of us surrounded by about six girls, all of them climbing all over us constantly insisting on us buying them drinks....crazy stuff.
Anyway, final night we went for a stroll trying to find a bar and some Random bloke comes up to us asking if we're into women and we were like, "not now" as in "not hookers" so the guy says, "Do you want boys then?" And we were like "Get the F@*k!!!!" "We just want a quiet drink without getting hassled" We all laughed and then he suggested a "really cool" Karaoke Bar that we'd love. (I know, Karaoke Bar, I should've known better!) "Sound", we thought. So off we go to this bar, which was just around from our hotel.

We walked into the place, which we were the only ones there apart from 2 big Muthafvckers (who were obviously Da Management, i.e. Security), a barman and about 20 Thai Girls, all with bracelets on that had numbers on them. STUNG!!!

We said fvck it, we'll stay for a beer and then head off. Beers comes over, with a bill for about 4 or 5 times the cost of a beer in a normal bar, quickly followed by the Madame asking us which number we want, all the while the two big fvckers giving us the death stares. We told her we were grand and that we just wanted to have a beer in peace. She left us alone, well alone as anybody can be with 20 girls with number tags, and two bouncers ready to kill you staring at you while you try to drink your over priced beer.

Eventually the Madame sends us over two of the days specials, Number 18 & 11, although that could've been Number 14 & 6, can't remember. We were then told that we should buy the ladies some drinks. Great.

We decided that it was probably in our best interests to buy them a couple of drinks, although we did toy with the idea of getting a bottle of coke and two straws but thought better of it. Anyway, after what seemed like an eternity of idle chit chat with two hookers with about 4 words of English between them we decided to act in the time old tradition of a Sunday World reporter, we made our excuses and left. :D

Think we ended up at a show with a Thai Elvis and Tom Jones impersonator. :D

It's amazing how over there its totally normal practice and accepted to lure tourists into an apparently easy going bar or strip joint or whatever and then totally rip you off with properly scary threats etc. I never got more than the expensive beers you got Baz but I heard some awful stores of much worse happening to others.... Forget about going to the cops they could not give a fukk

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

Yeah, police would just laugh at you if you said anything. It's groups of lads that normally get fleeced though. They tend to leave couples alone, understandably I suppose.
Everything has it's price in Thailand, although that's not taking away from the fact that it's an amazing country with equally amazing people. If I won the Lotto it's where I head off to first. Ahh dreaming.......

As for the Full Moon parties, there's every type you can imagine, Full Moon, Half Moon, Can't Believe It's Not Moon......bit of a tourist trap at this stage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭ianuss

Well, if you like your weed, the north is your man. If you go on a trek (and I really can't recommend this enough), you travel by car (with a gang of other tourists) for a few hours north from Chiang Mai, then trek for a few hours. Once there, you get to stay with a tribe for a few days - eating meals with them and just buzzing around in general. One of the lads we went with brought a gameboy and gave the local kids a go - you should have seen the amazement on their faces! And after an hour, they were actually pretty good at it too. :)

It's a real change from your average tourist trap. Anyway, if you want weed they give you some of their freshly grown stuff. Unbelievably fresh and sticky buds. For peanuts too. And obviously, no police within 100 miles of you probably.

When the trek is over, your guide will take you on a walk through some amazing countryside. Of all the trips I've taken it was by far the most memorable. I'd suggest The Lonely Planet too for general info. They're a pretty good set of books. But you know yourself, wherever you end up over there you'll have an awesome time.

As for full moon/half moon, they're just massive outdoor parties. The music is pants but who cares, everyone is just out to have a good time.

That's gas - I actually had the exact same experience on my first night in Bangkok.

Being typical Irish drunks, we didn't really give a sh1t about the numbered ladies - we were just glad to find somewhere that still served us.

Was there last year for 3 weeks, had a blast.
Spent most of the trip in Koh Lanta - a couple of friends of ours had been there before and recommended. Very chilled out, just relaxed, was with the other half though so don't know if i'd recommend it for a single guy - probably not!

As someone else said - whereever you go in Thailand you'll have a great time, it's just that kind of country isn't it?

The headwrecking thing was that it was the beginning of the night so we weren't drunk, just a tad nervous of the two buffoons staring us out of it.

+1 on Chang Mai. When I was there we did, Bangkok, Chang Mai, Koh Samui, and then back to Bangkok. Had planned to do a bit Island hopping but liked Koh Samui so much that we ended up staying there for the best part of the holiday.

We did a shorter version of the ianuss described. Started off with an Elephant trek through the jungle up to the hills (keep your hands "inside" the rail!) and then a tour around a traditional Thai Village, real Platoon stuff, houses on stilts, pigs in cage under the houses and chickens running all over the place. They bring you around to a few waterfalls for pictures (or a swim) and then you get to steer a Bamboo raft back to where you started. That bit is brilliant because it really does feel like you're in a scene from a Vietnam movie. It's a brilliant day out and looking back the 3 day trek would've been even better. Dunno why we didn't do it at the time. Maybe picking up the two lads after an intense scag session didn't appeal! Ha.

Anyone know how to get an old Sega Megadrive working on a normal tv? Just fished mine out, have spent a while fiddling around with NTL and DVD player connections and haven't been able to find it...

It should just be plug it into the bag and tune it in right?

Thats right........the old consoles ran on standard PAL, NTSC, SECAM signals depending what region you were in........PAL being standard for europe......

    Inputs and outputs

An A/V output, which consists of a DIN connector with composite video, RGB video, and audio outputs, is present on the system. The Mega Drive and the first model Genesis have an 8-pin DIN socket which supports mono audio only, but the Mega Drive 2, Multimega, and other models have a 9-pin mini-DIN connector with both mono and stereo audio. Stereo audio for the Mega Drive and the first model Genesis were supplied by the headphone jack, which is not present on later models. The Video output is an RCA jack that connects to TV A/V input. It exists on original model European and Asian Mega Drive and North American Genesis only; other models must use an external RF modulator.
