    Right heres my problem.

Im aware that Macs are very realiable and are great for music production. But im not so sure that windows computer cant be aswell?

    Because

It seems like everyone that has a Mac, when buying one automatically sells their soul to apple products,

convincing other people to buy apple products and having somewhat of a militant brand loyalty which i actually find quite frightening, it seems to me that the saavy marketing of apple products is what draws in people more than the quality of realability aspect

this is what has made me reluctant to do business with apple, and that im really a windows nerd at heart

basically if/when i buy a macbook do i automatically end up in pygmallion everynight of the week wearing a frock with a gameboy round my neck and some sort of sailor hat? or is it just coincidence that these things happen

Buying Apple sells your soul no more than buying Windows or any other major corporate product. Microsoft were the evil corporate giant of the 90's and Apple are the marketing douche bags of 00's...however, neither of these points should influence your decision. From a purely pragmatic point of view and if you really want to get the most out of your money for music production, buying a MBP is by far the best choice for you. Always remember that you can still SEAMLESSLY run Windows on your MBP using a feature called bootcamp, thus allowing you to get the best of both worlds.

Compare the specs and the reputations and decide if you're paying for a good laptop or a massive marketing budget. I've a Toshiba but I'd love a Mac (thereby ruining my marketing point).
Dont buy HP, check out Toshiba's satellites and whatever Samsungs are in your price range. Keep an eye on battery size.

Yep, i have a Toshiba sattelite pro that must be close on 8 years old now running Mac OS 10 & has never given any cr.ap, that said i would only use it in the gaff & wouldnt have brought it around town with me as was said.
I got to say I'm getting really disheartened with the amount of people posting that Jim Corr video up on their facebook pages..

I have to say in response to this part of your post,

Why does it bother you what people post up on their facebook pages?

It really disheartens me when i hear someone whining about whats up on facebook when they have just finished browsing it & are a facebook user themselves.
FFS people, don't blame a shadowy cabal of international bankers for our predicament, .

Why not? You say it as if it bears no relevance on how the country has found itself in the grip of the the international PRIVATE capitalist.

Do you not beleive it has been enginneered & the economic environment created to bring us to this point?
blame the gombeen politics we allowed to flourish in this country. Imagine we live in a land where Jackie Healy Rae and Michael Lowry hold the balance of power.

Whatever about Jackie healy ray etc, there is nothing gombeen about Gormley & Co......absolute spineless, treasoness, scumbag traitors that are just as complicit as the rest of the Scum that have sold us to the highest private lender. They are cowards & criminals & their time will come for what they have done.

Oh right, I forgot that the what Bertie Ahern was doing to cripple the economy with public spending in the form of benchmarking and an over-inflated welfare bill was not a form of vote-buying but the work of a shadowy cabal. Also keeping on tax breaks for the construction industry when repeatedly told that they could spell disaster was the work of a secret conspiracy. I now see the light!

You see I thought the whole thing was based on the ineptitude of over government over the last decade but obviously I've been more interested in XFactor like Jim says and have missed all the zionist bankers manipulating our financial systems to create a one world currency.

I totally agree with you in terms of Gormley and the rest and they should have pulled out of government when the bank guaranteed was first thought up. But they have nothing coming to them. Ireland is the land where we can do the most immoral acts in the name of money making and get away scot free.

You really do have a very narrow view of a short time span, successive coprrupt officials have been playing us slowly into the hands of the elite for years now, coincidental how Mc Creevy landed the job of European Commisioner for Internal market & Services for his corrupt disservice of this country. FF have played the long game on delivering lock stock & barrell into this. There is no conspiracy, we have been mis led & lied to by corrupt people, that is not in dispute. So if you are saying that lie after lie from liar after liar is not keeping the truth from the public and a secret then you must teach me your language.

I refer you to the post above to discount your offering of ineptitude.

Well lets not get into this to deep here as ther is plenty of thread space & boards memory devoted to this already on other threads but all i will offer is this,

Bonds are the one singularly recognised & traded currency in & out of all nations that are attached to no one established nations currency.

I never said I had a problem with facebook in the original post that's what I was trying to clarify.

I can't say I have a narrow view, it's the last 10 years that were the most crucial in terms of the predicament we find ourselves now. We can trace it back to Haughey and beyond if you really feel inclined but the truth is if the brakes were put on certain policies anytime between 2000 and 2005 we might not been in such a big hole which was compounded by the policies that this government has put in place since the crash.

I never said they haven't lied to us. Their constant evasion of the truth is what makes my blood boil. The have been covering up the truth to stop the exposure of their dunderheadness. The point of Jim Corr and his ilk is that it is actually a one world conspiracy.

Do people genuinely believe the stuff that Jim Corr talks about?

It may be the elite bankers that gain the most from Governments messing up but it's silly to think that they actually contrived the whole situation in cahoots with the politicians.

Just because a vulture gains the most from a roadkill doesn't mean that the vulture was driving the car.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭ianuss

No. It's nonsensical. These same people were making money anyway. Show me one shred of actual evidence and I'll begin to listen. Until then, I'll continue to think of these conspiracy theorists as either insane or incredibly stupid - or possibly both.

Had to do a re-solder on one of my decks the other day because I was getting a buzzing noise from it.
I had replaced the cables before, many moons ago, and I'd always thought that I'd done a good job of it. :o

I'm glad my soldering skills have improved.

I am impressed very much, tis quite hard to get it that neat & not burn the bollox out of the board seeing as it is the second time round.

    Cheers.

There's a guy on youtube that has a load of clips showing how to do repairs on Technics. Great videosm and he goes into great detail.

I didn't know that you had to solder (or tin?) the wires first, and that the iron just needs to touch the wire and not the solder when applying it. Simple little tips like that made it much easier to do. I was totally winging it the last time.

I think the main problem with the buzzing was not the quality of the soldering, bad as it was, it was due to one of those tiny wires from the tone arm coming loose (small black one above the green wire). It was really fiddly to solder back on, but it needed to be done.

Still its very neat, i would lay the wires flat on a board first & coat them in solder before going anywhere near a board but still doesnt for the most be that neat. The real pain in the H is trying to resolder on a new transistor to replace burned out transistor to its connection points.

That's the problem with all Irish related shares at the moment I suppose. Or for that matter, shares in general. It's basically betting on horses for people in suits.

I posted this a while back on here in a different context but it seems to be very apt with the current language of the thread & in the context of pouring good money after bad into Irish instittutions,

'You can feed a donkey a ton of oats but he will never win the derby!'

To be fair, our female participation rates are on a par with sub-saharan africa. Can't remember the exact statistic but something like 60% of the few female TD's there are are from families where a male relative was already politically prominent.

Don't necessarily agree with the method taken, but there needs to be some sort of encouragement given.

Why?? There are absolutely no barriers to women getting into politics. It is against the law to have any such barriers.
This quota system is ludicrous. And patronising in the extreme. The fact that our female representation is on a par with sub-saharan africa says more about the women of Ireland than it does about any political system.

One listed Bobby Sands as her hero in the local paper which was a bit retarded imo
