Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Here I have a few pictures from the big demonstration in Athens today and the start of the riots luckily (or unluckily, depends on how you see it) my camera broke (see my other thread) before the real riots started, so I got out save.
The pictures are JPEGs straight out of the camera, as I don't have Photoshop with me, so I can't process them before I'm back home.

The remaining pictures can be seen on my Flickr.

It started like a fun day out
    Have something to eat

    Drink a coffee

A day for the whole family

    Make some music

    Many people were there

    Shout some slogans

    and some more slogans

The demonstration finally reaches Syntagma square, the main square in front of the parliament

    The police was alread there

    as was RTE

    The croud gets angrier

    and angrier

The military honour guard (for the Tomb of the unknown soldier) leaves

The crowd tries to storm the Parliament

The police retaliates with teargas and the crowd retreats, but some go on and the first things are thrown

After this, my camera broke temporarily and I had too leave the scene.

Very interesting, it's good to see the shots in sequence like that, and have the story developing... I'd say it got scary when the riots started, though! And I hope your cam is fixable, too!

I seen the stuff on the stairs live this morning, well done. Good timeline too

Nice, would prefer if the pics were bigger.

I choose the small size deliberately, as to not make the post too big (hate this if you have to wade throug a post that is too long).

I got swept with the crowed and couldn't turn back, when they started moving towards the parliament. The lucky part was that I didn't made it too far, before the polie started firing teargas, so I didn't got too much of it.

Got my first scare last Saturday, when I made it to the end oft Mayday demonstration (saw only the clean-up) and saw for the first time photographers with helmets and gasmasks.

After some complaining :) I had a look at a normal screen and not on my netbook and I must say they were really small, so I changed same to the larger size

Now, the pictures at this size are really bringing across the feeling of what is happening over there, I mean if it was a licckle flower picture then size doesn't really matter but this type of news picture does...

    TY.

Brilliant shots. Brings home how the cradle of civilisation has been brought to its knees (like Ireland) by pure and utter greed. How sad.
