A bit of a mixture. For example last night I decided to research T S Elliot but in the other corner i've had to ban myself from CODMW2.:D

Well I didn't use the internet that much when I was doing my leaving cert last year because I knew it would be too distracting. However, it can be a good utility for studying, I found this ever since I started college.

The internet can have good aspects and bad aspects. If a person is not good at concentrating then he/ she could easily be distracted by other stuff such as facebook, boards.ie, youtube, and even porn.

This poll could be rephrased as 'is facebook good or bad for your leaving cert?', because that's inevitably where I end up every time I go online >.<

True. Playing xbox, be it MW2/Halo Reach Beta or what have you. Its gonna be hard to keep myself away from it. I reckon Facebook will be a huge factor. I've spent so much time on it, god damnit. My friend did his leaving cert 2 years ago and he had himself a good idea, probably should have followed suit. He moved into his grandparents house after christmas. They had no internet or playstation/xbox or what have you. Not sure even if they had a TV, so now hes in college and flying. Ah well, we'll all be fine, heads up :D

I became addicted to xbox live 2 years back... I spent ridiculous amounts of time glued to xbox. I was a gears of war pro player and played the game seriously... Even competed nationally. I loved the attention I got as a female gamer who lived to wall bounce no scope head shot boys... Played other games too by gears of war was my field.

However I failed my LC and gained 3 stones. I am now very over weight and regret ever buying an xbox. Hwever I'm so glad I decided to repeat and I havnt touched my xbox in 3 months... I play sometes but very rarely and am now working towards fitting into those skinny jeans from 2 xmases ago...

But yeah... Internet is BAAAD for tge LC!!!

Bad, horribly ****ed me over last year due to the reliance of websites which I became too trusting of. If you want to do better get off boards and focus on your studies.

Boards stopped doing temp bans just before the Leaving last year...... >_<

I actually got banned from the LC forum kinda by accident in the aftermath of the Paper Two leak....... >_> Was unbanned about an hour after though :)

It's awful, it's so horribly addictive and difficult to actually come off and do work - like now for instance.

I find myself on Boards looking at the leaving cert topics saying to myself

''It's ok, i might learn somthing''

The internet is more or less the largest summation of human knowledge and experience on the earth; all accessible from your computer.

It is the greatest study tool that could ever be created.

It's you all and your lack of will power and concentration that's the problem!

The internet is what we call an info-overload that is too difficult to handle and cut down...this you end up so frustrated you end up browsing naughty websites or looking at lolcat photos...or just watching stupid videos on youtube.

It is the worst study tool ever created...

humans generally lack will power...its been distilled in us by the mighty lord...

Christ. I'm really beginning to whether anti-games lobbyists actually have some kind of point..
Personally, I gave my Xbox to my girlfriend back in December in anticipation of a similar situation. And I avoid online gaming like the plague as a general rule.
Still managed to sail right up sh*t creek, though. May have to repeat. My metabolism is too fast to gain weight. Guess that's some consolation.

Dude I ain't anti gaming... I love playing online. But as I see it their is a time and place for everything! The LC is not a time for gaming trust me!

But you see moderation is the key and self control. An hour or so 2 times a week wouldn't harm someone... Relaxation is important. But the thing with me is that I have no self control. I always take things to extremes. Thus, I decoded just to stay clear all together since the beginning of the year and I don't regret I at all! In fact I played the other day as a treat from the art exam and it was a well deserved 2 hours of gaming and I found that if u lack something long enough u r no longer addicted to it! I'm really happy with how it worked out for me but yet I'm still worries bout the LC! Lol

take my advice; give it up for this last month. It will be so worth it and u will thank yourself so much for giving it up... Games are no good for the LC!!!

Haha I totally agree about gaming. I'm a repeat and got a bit attached to online gaming last year and didn't do great, didn't do too bad either mind, and I know I ain't the smartest. But I decided to try give the LC the best shot I could this time around.

I do game the odd bit this year but noway near as much as last year I only do it for rexlation and a bit of fun lol. I took it too competitive last year aswell. Funnily enough I just seen a thread on Red Dead Redemption looks an exciting game coming out 21st of this month, I will not give in to buying it until after this bloody leaving cert!!! Least it can be something to look forward to. :D

Don't game during LC it really is bad espiecally online.
