If it’s such good value you could at least invite some friends or family.;)

Already did that is how I was able to answer your question.

Tried this place soon after opening - teething problems perhaps but, slow service, mediocre food, inexperienced waiting staff....

And to cap it all off, a very arrogant, ignorant, rude, manager who displays no customer care or people skills.

    LASTpas for me...

PS Noticed that they were still recruiting for a head chef the day before they opened.... and even a few days afterwards as well.....

I work very close to Las Tapas, had a lunch last week and thought it was excellent "very good value", going for dinner this friday with group of friends.

Am a massive massive tapas fan.
I tried the new one in Greystones a while back, and have to say, was very very disappointed.
Tried Las Tapas last week and the difference was mental!

I had Kalamari & meatballs, and the star of the occasson was the chicken cooked in sherry and white wine.
Washed it down with a bottle of the house white which really nice.
You couldn't fault the price, excellent value, and staff were very attentive, and some nice latin type music in the background.
Will definetely be going back for more.

tried to book this restaurant last wed evening to bring a visiting family out to dinner. We were 7 adults and 6 children. Imagine my surprise to be told that children were not welcome after 6.30pm. This is supposed to be a spanish type tapas restaurant not a 5 star fancy one. When I asked why, I was told this is the policy and the girl on the other end of the phone was very short with me! They won't be getting our business no matter how good they are. Btw we went to La Dolce Vita in Sandyford Village which has moved above the Sandyford House. Food was good but quite pricey.

Been there twice. First time the food was excellent! Second time, was still good but I noticed the recipe for the chicken wings had changed and the second times just seemed like they had sprinkled on some Franks sauce (I love Franks sauce, but I expect something more individual when i eat out) and also the portions seemed smaller. So I'm hoping they are not cutting corners in regard to quantity and quality now they have been opened a month or so.
The waitresses were all very friendly and attentive but paradoxically the service was sh!te. We were waiting for ages for the food and orders were messed up. Also, a few things we wanted on the menu weren't available.
I really hope it was only teething problems but they should really have so much of this sorted out before opening. Basic stuff.
Upstairs is much nicer than downstairs (feels more spanish and less typical Irish cafe with muffins - downstairs not very Spanish). I suspect tehy may be backing off from the Spanish thing, which would be a great shame, as they have removed some Spanishy-looking signs that were outside, and replaced them with a crappy "take-away coffees available" sign, which make the place seem like a bog standard cafe and not worth the special trip to visit.

But like I say, the food was great. If they could iron out the other issues and really make the most of the Spanish thing (eg not accepting kids after 6.30 is very un-Spanish) then I think they'd be packed every weekend. Tehy're 90% there, but that missing 10% lets them down a lot.

    Agreed. Their coffee is excellent.

Was talking to owner, she said all kids welcome untill 7.45 - 8, I guess its reasonable enough for restaurant/bar where alcohol is being served to not allow kids in the premises after 8, the place is spanish but we are not in spain, are we?

I heard from a FOAF that they were there on the opening night or the next night and there was a big argument and the head chef walked out and so might have quit completely.

Here is a review of both the Tapas place in Greystones and Cabinteely.

Lucinda O'Sullivan was very impressed with Cabinteely Las tapas, can't say the same thing for greystones one.

there is a cafee open in the same building now, on the other side of Sam's Barbers, same colour scheme and all. I assume its the same crowd. Have usurped a lot of the footpath there, but always seems busy enough.

I dont think its the same owners, the takeaway coffee is not java republic and price is more expensive in the new ice cream place.

Yes the new place specialises more in retro sweets and ice-cream and seems to be a totally different place. Some very nice sweets, I had not bought a quarter of sweets in years.

Do they come in little brown paper bags?

Are there Peggy's legs, bullseyes, aniseed balls?

Does anyone remember the Joy Shop in Deansgrange?

Sorry that is off topic a bit.

Must try the new cafe/shop in Cabinteely!

All the old favourites are there(bullseyes, cough sweets, apple drops etc) and i think they did come in a brown paper bag if I remember correctly. there are loads of them.

I've been to Las Tapas many times and love it there. I've enjoyed every dish I've had there and the staff are unbelivably friendly. Fri / Sat nights are great fun - see the gallery on Lastapas.ie!

Up for grabs at the moment:
Tapas dinner for 2 people with a complimentary bottle of Campo Del Moro Red or White Wine

    Competition link:
    http://www.facebook.com/LasTapas.ie?...00358909996073

If you do win ... would highly recommend the chorizo and chickpea stew, the wings, the patatas bravas and the calamari

    Good luck!!
