The third perk is based on the first and second right?

Hopefully treyarch learned not to allow Lightweight be selected along with Marathon. It'll be interesting though to see what combinations you can come up with

    Nothing was mentioned apperantly.

If there is going to be a beta, I reckon it will be a 360 exclusive

Have to say I'm looking forward to this multiplayer as I felt Treyarch did a better job in creating a better multiplayer experience in COD3 (various complementary classes, medic, sniper, vehicles, etc) than the more "individual biased" multiplayer in COD4 where it was you and some guys against the enemy team.

I didn't get WaW because I've played WW2 games (most of the COD series) and have a good knowledge in the history of the battles that took place and had no interest in travelling down that familiar path. Though the multiplayer did appeal to me, I stayed away.

Hope to see Treyarch push the boundaries by building on what other game makers have done and adding their own twist on procedings. I'm liking the novel game types introduced and gun game looks like a blast if it's all mates in a private party/lobby.

Even still I'll probably get Halo Reach before this!

Looks good so far, the maps have more of a COD4 feel to them, very uneven landscape, lots of blown apart buildings etc, a lot of the maps in MW2 are very flat in comparison. Love the RC car looks like a laugh. Like the idea of buying weapons as opposed to having to level up for them.

NO Tac Insertion /:(\ (there is)
    NO Commando \:D/

SOH and Stead Aimy/Longer Breath on the same tier :( bad for snipers

Be interesting to see how the killstreaks work out, love the announced game modes, hope they keep stuff like Sabotage and S&D though, that Wager match sounds fantastic, and no TI means no (or at least less) boosting for mates who want to earn money.

Graphically, like was said not as nice as MW2 but still impressive in places, maps look a lot bigger than MW2 as well, Treyarch have obviously listened to the fans with this, pity Infinity Ward never did the same

There is a TI I'm nearly sure I read somewhere

Edit, yea there is , it's in Equipment slot, according to Egyptian's post on page22. It remains to be seen if it's uses are limited compared to Mw2 (Let's hope they are!)

Ah crap, I just skimmed over that part, whyyyyyyyy are they putting the most abused item in MW2 back in?! even it you can only use it a few times a round it wil get boosters a head start

    Ikr :(

Treyarch listened to the community about some points, but not one of, if not the most complained about part of Mw2. I r disappointed.

The most complained about stuff in MW2 is OMA, DC, Commando and TI's, with remove 3 and not TIs?

As far as i know the t.i's are under equipment and scavenger will resupply ammo but not equipment...so i've heard.

that would'nt really matter though would it

the lad that uses it , he gets shot , then respawns in the same spot , uses it again and so on . He doesnt need to resupply

Unless its a 1 use per match thing, in which case it renders it totally useless for even the people who do use it legit, should have just removed it altogether.

I've been playing COD4 the past few nights and am loving it, very little noobtubing, you're right about martyrdom though ever other fcuker is using it, I get killed more by killing people myself than being shot!

lol , I know ya ........jumping around like a gob****e . Just have to remember not to run near the bodies when youve killed them

I really think its miles ahead of mw2 though

I found it hard to get used to the graphics for a while, sometimes its really hard to make out enemies asthe character models arent as good as in MW2, and you will get raped on every map when starting out, same as any game you're getting into late really, the only maps I do really well on are the ones I've already played on MW2 like Overgrown and Crash.

I might start giving MW2 a break as its starting to wither me again, every time I get a good game I wind up in a lobby full of noobs, might go back to multiplayer Uncharted 2 again which is great fun, way more balanced and a friendlier community atmosphere

Thank GOD there's no deathstreaks in BO, no more 3x bloody health with painkiller. Poxy grenades with martyrdom, and no more last fág stand.

Shame they still have last stand perk tho.... that ****ing perk is nearly as bad as commando imo..

Negative IMO. So long as it's not entirely open maps or has one focal point where everyone runs for I'll cope. Probably never noticed but if we are in a game together there are 4 maps which I skip without hesistation - Wasteland, Derail, Rundown and Estate. Can't stand them.

Haven't noticed you on it, but do hit us up with an invite to play. Myself and Headshot play it everynow and again over the last week or so.

I'm struggling with the pace of the game atm though and yeah I forgot how irratating martydom and juggernaut are in COD4. Nowhere as bad as the crap in MW2 mind you.

edit - lols about the graphics. I can't see anything inside of Vacant :pac: Thank god for nightvision googles :)

Will do, beware though I'm only at lvl 17 so I wont be very good unless its a map I already know :pac:

As for skipping the big maps on MW2, Wasteland I dont mind, I quite like it actually, Derail I hate, Rundown is meh have had some great and lousy games on there (including my epic drunken 30-0 FFA game at 3am one night while scoffing down a kebab from Abra :pac:, Estate is alright I just stay out of the house, I prefer when the enemy team holes up in there as I just go over to the boathouse and snipe them, easy kills.

Sounds good from what ive read, they have listened alot to be fair to them, more than infinity ward will ever do. Will make the game alot more interesting that stopping power is gone, it shouldnt have been in MW2 without juggarnaut. Frees up the 2nd perk slot and makes the 1 v 1 fights fair all the time. The money system and wagers etc are gimmicky, will be prone to people boosting in someway and wont be the selling point for me. As for graphics, CODs since 4 have been locked at 60 fps which is far more important than the actual textures etc, id rather a smooth game any day. People may prestige more this time aswell considering you can buy any gun provided you have enough money so people will stick to what they like most. T.I's really need to go or be modified that you can only use them a set amount of times.

Ha so its not just me then, thank fcuk :D yeah the graphics are very brown and dark in a lot of the maps, the guns look a bit puny at times too, especially the sniper rifles, but I still find it a more balanced game than MW2

the maps in MW2 are awful compared to MW1

when I see a MW1 map on MW2 my face lights up, just great maps imo

hopefully the maps on Black Ops are much better

Some of them are alrite tbh. Terminal is a good map imo, as is skidrow and sub base. But yeah, MW1 > MW2 maps by a long way.

All I can hope is that, as Ade said, there isn't just 1 focal point on most maps, as there is in most Mw2 maps. Estate, the big house. Sub base, the house with the 3 entrances. Fuel, the rock . Derail, the centre building with the two stairs. Etc etc.

Really happy about scavenger only replenishing ammo, and lethal grenades (when pro) and not equipment. Should reduce camping by a good bit, no more situation with people camping with claymores on each door, someone runs in and dies, replace claymore.

I figure there'll always be people trying to have an unfair advantage in the game, by boosting or whatever. People playing "the wrong way", by camping like hell with claymore/scavenger, or doing a Usain Bolt with a tac knife. All I can hope is that it doesn't become so much of a problem as with Mw2 in that everygame had someone with mlc combo, or OMA + DC, or claymore/scavenger, or BOOSTERS

I've watched Hutch's 7 videos on gameplay in Black Ops over lunch, and have some thoughts on what I've seen.

Overall, it looks pretty good, without really having a WOW factor that MW2 had on first play. I have to say I'm a bit surprised at the graphics. I know gameplay is more important, but it looks like a retrograde step from MW2 which has amazing graphics imho. More a combo of WAW/COD4 instead of what I'm used to with MW2. I could be wrong on that as I've only seen grainy videos so far.

I've only every played MW2, so can't compare BO with anything else, but apparently there's a lot more recoil in BO and also it takes a lot longer to kill people. Maybe this is more similar to COD2/WAW etc. It'll take me a bit of getting used to I guess, but I couldn't say whether it's a good or bad thing yet.

Shotguns have been nerfed hugely. There was a lot of complaints from some of the youtube commentators about that weapon being a secondary, but I quite like them. Their range has been hit massively, so it looks like you'll hardly ever actually use them. I quite like the diversity of weapons that are useable in MW2 and think that reducing this down isn't a step forward...??

Interesting killstreaks. Dogs as an 11 killstreak? Must be some beafy mutts on the go! The RC Car is probably not actually as overpowered as you'd think, because you can be out of the game for so long. With the Pred, it was 10 seconds max, while the car could have you out of the game for 30-45-60 seconds as you search for a kill. Maybe as people learn the maps more, this will become less of a factor. Nuke is gone. :D Also, no word on whether the killstreaks build to other streaks from what I've read so far...

    Deathstreaks. Gone. Good.

TI's back in the game. This is a hard one. Maybe because they've removed the Nuke, they think boosting won't be as prevalent. Or maybe they've another solution for that...

I don't know what to make of money instead of XP. How will that slot in with prestiges etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,565 ✭✭✭Dymo

    first impressions,

Like that there no Killstreaks that lead to more kill streaks, killstreaks can only be gotten from the gun or equipment your using.

Unsure about the currency and hows that going to work for your average gamer.

The graphics look COD4 and I hope there not all going to be all war torn areas, Terminal and highrise are nice clean maps in MW2

Loving the idea of a combat training section.

Wish they had replaced the Nuke with something else, I always thought it gave the good players something to aim for

I actually prefer the MW2 maps for the most part, love Terminal,Skidrow, Wasteland, Rust is a hoot, Favela is great on some game modes.

    I haven't played COD4, so can't really compare, but....

Your argument is weakened by saying that Derail and Fuel are your favourites? Really?? Most people would put them down as by far the worst of any map ever on COD...

Going by the maps taken from COD4, which many people complained about paying for...

Overgrown - Really don't like this map. Either camp-tastic, or sniper bs non-stop.
Vacant - Decent map, but god help you if you get the outside spawn with air support up.
    Crash - Pretty good map.
Strike - A very good map. Really like it for Dom/TDM/S&D etc.

So you've one terrible map, two average maps, and one good map. Maybe I'm missing something, but that doesn't suggest to me that COD4 was much better other than "better in my day" style memory. I've heard horror stories about Bog too??

The cod 4 maps were much better , they were smaller more intense fire fights and very little camping. When i first got mw2 i didnt like the maps as i felt they were too big which means a lot of camping , Backlot beng one of my favourites , its a pity they didnt include it.
The mw2 maps arent bad , i dont dislike any but they are not at good in general as the mw1 maps. :)

edit: bog was a very good map, easy to dominate , only horror stories from those that mightnt have been able to control it. ;)

I actually find the cod4 maps too big, proably because I dont know them as well as the MW2 ones yet, dont know all the quick ways through them, I do agree about their being more intense fighting on cod4, its rarely ever quiet on the maps, theres times on MW2 where you dont see an enemy for 20-30 secs as everyones hiding.

Was funny actually on Estate the other night, nearly everyone was sniping and camping with silenced guns so you could only hear the occasional shot being fired, I got killed 3 times by the same guy after stupidly going back for revenge kills only he had moved slighty, so I thought "fcuk this!", changed to my lightweight class and legged it over, blam, spas in the face, and then it all kicked off lol everyone changed class and it became a run and gun game literall as soon as i shot the first 2-3 guys with a non silenced weapon, its funny how the pace of a game can change like that

that currency thing might promote boosting lobbies :S also people will be so worried about loosing their money that they will play in a very conservative manor, not sure if its a good idea.

Well going by these latest videos I got to go further than my last post and say very underwhelmed by them.

I tried going back to play MW1 multiplayer because the graphics were not half as good and MW2 and the graphics in this are nowhere near MW2 either.
Animations of the characters in MW2 are top notch too (never fail to be amazed at the graphics.....love Favela, Rundown, Invasion because you can tell US v Miltia/Middle Eastern Troops easily)

Maps in MW2 are varied and different.

I will buy this but can't see myself playing it as much as MW2 online the past year....roll on MW3 next year.

Fair enough. Since the maps in COD4 are smaller, it's strange that the two maps he liked were Fuel and Derail which are enormous. :shrugs:

It might also promote more run&gun. You get money for kills and capping flags and shooting down airsupport, and don't lose anything for deaths, so maybe it'll encourage people to try to get out and shoot instead of sitting back to camp... It'll be interesting.

I'd put them as 2 of my least favorite tbh, i'd have favela/terminal/skidrow and crash as my favorites (Including map packs/cod4 maps). I dont think its the maps themselves that make intense firefights, but the actual game, noobtubes and killstreak building sort of take out alot of the fast paced action that you'd have got in cod4.

But yeah... lets hope BO's has some seriously good maps.

Graphics don't make great games, some of the best MP games played today have very dated graphics... i think its the simplistic nature that makes them so enjoyable.

I wonder do you lose "currency" in normal game modes? I like the idea of it, but if i lost it due to some asswipe glitching to win i'd probably never play it online and stick to Mw2/Cod4

Not from what I've heard. It's only in the wager mode. I think you "bet" 100 points with the top three taking the overall kitty of 600. Unless you win, that sounds like a slow way of increasing your money though...

Not from what I've heard. It's only in the wager mode. I think you "bet" 100 points with the top three taking the overall kitty of 600. Unless you win, that sounds like a slow way of increasing your money though...

I reckon it'll be good tho, probably after the first month or so you'll get mostly good players doing the wager thing as the baddies will have gotten tired of losing all there cash, so could be good for people that like a challenge.

The gamemodes alone make it more enjoyable for the better players.

The one bullet game is tough for anyone, let alone strong players.
The Gun game is similar to FFA but will mean that weak players can't rely on their OMA/noobtube/Claymore etc to win, and will have to be able to snipe/tube/crossbow/burst fire/autofire/shotgun/pistol their way to victory. More skills needed so harder to win. (Hope I'm up to it!! :D )

Graphics don't make great games, some of the best MP games played today have very dated graphics... i think its the simplistic nature that makes them so enjoyable.

Never truer words said! Check out ET for proof of the above.
