Life can be tough at the best of times. Imagine life with all it's stresses and strains on top of a disability that seriously curtails your interaction with the outside world and things could look bleak indeed for an individual and their family. However, empowering people with disabilities is the goal of many worthy organisations in Ireland and that brings with it priceless hope and community spirit. They seek to to bring out the ability of a person and in the process minimise the affects of disability. Whether it be with people who have been affected by visual impairment Irish Blind Sport, Guide Dogs people who have had a stroke Volunteer Stroke Scheme or special olympics volunteers opening up the olympic ideals to thousands of people with intelectual disabilities it is possible to make such a difference even when a disability appears insurmountable.

Irish Wheelchair Assoication CASA Rehab Care Rehab-"The people who currently use our services include young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury. A range of essential services are also provided to older people, carers and others who are marginalised."
List of organisations in the disability area from the disability federation.
