Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Peter Robinson cuckolded in life now cuckolded in politics!

Wow, what a shock about Robinson.

Not being an MP anymore but still an assembly member, does it mean he can't be First Minister and leader of the DUP?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭sink

This is simply the best new, way out of left field. 22% swing, that is crazy.

Ha!!! I was told so many times today I had wasted my vote.... I am over the moon.

    Was Robinson really that bad?

Nope. He will remain as first minister.

Unbelievable. Peter the punt is out. Delighted for the c**t.
Congrats to Naomi Long. That is a hell of a result for Naomi and the Alliance Party, they have worked tirelessly for a long time and deserve ther success.

Tories win their first seat in Battersea according to ITV. Could be a big swing there, no figures yet, it's high on their list of targets. I'm sticking with the BBC/Sky as judging by that, ITV are calling constituencies based on someone there estimating the size of vote piles rather than actual declarations.

A blow to misogynists everywhere! Time to celebrate...if the Tory scourge can be beaten back in whatever way possible, it could be a great night

The East Belfast result is a bit of a shock! Congrats to the Alliance Party :D

They are essentially the LibDems of NI- so one extra seat for Clegg in theory!

Iris took the fall for almost everything but the land deal was a killer for him and people felt he treated them like idiots.

That aside though Naomi Long ran a great campaign, not just in the last few weeks but also during her term as Mayor of Belfast. She's an excellent candidate and will be a great MP for East Belfast.

Seriously I do not have the words for how amazing this feels. Well done Naomi and well done Alliance!!!! :D

Portillo himself had a funny column in the Guardian (of all places) about this today....Ed Balls, Children's Minister could be another

I'd be surprised if the Junior isn't leading soon.

Arlene Foster said he'll make the right decision or something along those lines, hardly a ringing endorsement.

No, Junior isn't that well thought of and can be a loose canon at times. It'll be between Arlene Foster, Nigel Dodds or Gregory Campbell. Logic says either Dodds or Campbell but Arlene Foster would be the most moderate of the three. All depends what way the DUP want to move now.

BBC now saying that Tories may get an overall majority. Don't know how they can say this based on 2 constituencies!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭sink

Sound more like something Newscorp would say not BBC News. 2 results is nothing to go on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,634 ✭✭✭Mayo Exile

David Dimbleby on the BBC is now calling for the the Tories to get an overall majority. I'd say there is a chance of this. That early trend is continuing in safe Labour seats, i.e a swing of about 9% to the Tories. Durham North and Darlington continuing this pattern.

Oh well, my consistuency has just declared and the Labour guy gets nearly 61% of the vote in his first outing! Another classic example of 'you can put a red rosette on a monkey and people here will still vote Labour'.

    Lib Dem win in Torbay!

Lib Dems keep Torbay. It's going to be tight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,545 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Now an 'expert' is saying last LD win in Torbay is a setback for Conservatives. I really think they should stop trying to forecast over 600 seats with only 17 results in.

Labour's Roger Berry had a notional majority of 6,145 in Kingswood, according to the Guardian. What?

Aye, I'd not be at all surprised with the Tories getting anything between 290 and 330, it's way too tight to call this early on.

I fear a similar outcome for mine :(

Looking like a swing to Labour in Scotland, well an increase in Glasgow constituencies so far
