    Item #1 in the FAQ.

€100 gets you a reasonably good compact camera. Fujifilm, Canon, Hitachi......

What kind of camera does your brother have? What do you like/dislike about it?

    What will you be photographing?

    New or second hand? .......

Dont buy in town, buy off www.adverts.ie

You will probably get much better value from there.

Might pick this up tomorrow, are they any good? Nothing wrong with my brothers one, it's just not mine and I hate asking for it. I will be going to some sport events soon (MMA) and want to get some good snaps...

do you have much photographic knowledge/understanding ?

    - its more than likely that shooting with the camera you linked you might not be happy with results at an MMA Sports event or other sports events..... shooting sports events takes precision timing (and a bit of luck) - with fast shutter speeds and low lights/varying quality of light.

you may be happy with the results/other photo enthusiasts may not.

your budget has almost doubled since this morning?!? if it can increase anymore I could agree with above and go for a 2nd hand DSLR from adverts.ie

My knowledge is very little. I have about 180 to spend, could I get a good camera for that kind of money?

I suggest you go into one of the smaller camera shops in town and tell them what you want. You can write down the names of cameras they recommend and see it you can get it cheaper elsewhere. I got a new camera last week. I did pay 20 extra in the smaller camera shop but got good service from them and can go back if I have any questions.

the Kodak EasyShare Z915 is a step up from the average compact camera, it has longer zoom and some manual controls. i reckon this would be a good place to start :)

No. That's a terrible looking cam tbh.

I have a fuji s1000fd for ale, €100, inc. 1GB xd card + charger with 4 rechargeable batteries. It's better than that cam posted above. Done me good up until I got a dslr just recently. Up to yourself.

Thanks for the offer but I think I will get the Fuji S1730

I learned all the basics of manual control using my fuji. And, if I do say so myself, got some nice shots with it along the way
