Ok as a result of the photography on the net thread, lets have a go at a print exchange

so plan is to get 10 - 15 people

every person prints a print for everyone else, and posts to them or maybe meets up etc

if we use say 10*8 or 12*8 as the print size

i guess we need to set a deadline to sign up else this will run forever

so i will start the list with me

then when we have people we can sort out how to get prints to each other

To clarify, if say 10 people are participating, each person makes 9 prints of one of their photos to send out, and in turn recieves 9 different prints from everyone else? Seems like a nice way of getting a few good pictures for your wall

i hadnt thought about dates, it kinda depends how quickly people ge involved i guess

i think we should have at least 10 people so we all get a nice bundle of prints.

but guess no reason why we couldn't send prints at end of month

If we only get the 5 or so of us, or a smaller number than ten , we could do two different prints each to send out, instead of one. ie. instead of 10x1 it's 5x2
Just an idea if we don't make up the numbers....

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

I was assuming this was to see what different people would do with different photos. If everyone just goes to their photolab.. they'll get the general lacklustre result you get from most photolabs. (Unless there's a lot of tweaking beforehand.)

I used to do large format printing professionally.. so I'm REALLY fussy. I wouldn't get a result I'd be satisfied for an art print from a photolab without the equipment to do customer color profiles for their gear. (holiday snapshots I don't mind.)

If I were participating, I'd be hoping to see the printing styles of everyone in the group, and see what they did with my shots, and to show all of them what I'd do with their work if I were printing it.

Did I misinterpret the intention?

imo maybe a tad. print exchange...its up to the photographer how he/she wasnt work presented. dictating print method isnt cool. the list are all competent togs, and know a decent print. not all labs suck

its about the photography rather than the printing skills i think, although it is nice to see what people do with the image

but i will be quite happy to see a bunch of nice photo prints from people

Do we want to cap this at the 11 names we have now at them moment, and run with this or are we going to be looking for more people? Any larger at it might drag on a bit is my only concern.

lets leave it till say wednesday to see if we get up to 15 maybe

then we need to organise adresses. maybe if people pm me their details and i will put a list together

I'll PM Steve my address etc. I presume we're not mounting these prints? It'll start to get costly if we have to mount and post 14 prints.
Maybe Steve when you have the addresses we could arrange a meet & exchange that might suit some people? I know others may be too far away for a meet, but they can be posted.

I'm interested, but have printer issues at present. I can't find the download/prices on your site Stephen. I know I can go to a Lab but if Stephen is offering the service I'd rather keep the business "in the family" as it were. Could you post your prices Stephen or is that against forum rules?

well i guess we not gonna get anyone else signing up for this time

so everyone who signed up, if ya can all send me you details via PM i will then distribute a list to everyone for sending prints

i reckon we should aim for prints being sent is say 2 weeks time?

if everyone can keep a list of what they get etc so we know if any go missing etc


maybe if everyone puts in with the prints they send, their details, then everyone will know where they came from etc

Was a size decided on? I suppose it could be left up to the individual photographer - some pictures are more suited to a larger size - but say 10*8 as a guideline?

Lets just say 10"x8", we don't want it to cost too much for anyone in particular and if it works well this time we could dabble with sizes if there's a second run next time round.
