Taking Tablets to States

    Hi,

I'm heading over to the states on a J-1 and I have a running prescription here for a tablet to help clear up my skin - it's actually also a contraceptive pill.
Does anyone know if I can I take 5 months' worth of prescription with me, will this cause issues with customs or whatever? Or do I need to bring the actual prescription with me to the States and buy the tablets over there (if they're available)?

I've always gotten it from my local chemist and he said he can give me 5 months worth to take with me.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this :)

You can take up to 6 months worth of prescription medicine with you, so you should be fine. Bring the prescription also, to proof a doctor prescribed them.

agree with the last poster, you're allowed up to 6 months worth of prescribed medication......generally as long as the chemist's label, with your name is still on the bottle/box you should be fine......but there's no harm in bringing the original prescription too

Thanks for the replies - I forgot about my name being on the packets. Will probably take the prescription itself too, just in case! :)
