Sorry just looking for some general guidelines here.
Awhile back a mod note appeared prohibiting petioning on a thread. No problems there.
But can boards clear this up.
What is acceptable and what isn't acceptable. Can facebook campaigns or general campaings be put up via sigs eg bin the 52 acres or stuff or gets the yanks out.
What goes and what doesn't in other words.

It depends on the forum (as set out in the forum's charter) and in any case is down to the discretion of the mod in question.

If you have any doubt, ask before posting.

I'm particularly talking about petitioning via an embedded sig. Lets say for example a campaign to save a georgian house via facebook campaign. Is that okay as a rule?

So long as it falls within the general site rules and the specific sig rules, it's probably OK.

I'm sure there are loads of edge cases where it wouldn't be though.

If a forum is particularly against petitions and one has such a petition in one's sig, then one should untick the "Show your signature" option when posting in that forum to be on the safe side.
