Wasn't the substitution thing in force for the Champions League game?

I'm a bit worried they are triyng to be too clever in rewarding pts. As I understand it players get awarded pts for making runs in the box and crosses, defenders get pts for blocks and for clearances and so on.

It could get very confusing.

So yeah I went for a few 1mil players to bolster my line up and most of my subs will be good forwards/midfielders. Wanted Rooney but I think Cashley is one of the best value defenders and Lampard is always worth a pick. Hopefully you can get more players from the same team after group stages?

Anyone know what the deal is with subs if a player doesn't play? Is it a like for like?

Ya agreed! Prefer how for the normal premier league one it requires some bit of thought and judgement on your part to pick some low valued players who will do well!
With this your entire team can have the highest valued players of every position and a few more on the bench.

thats my strategy for the most part at the moment but I think I need to read up on the rules again to see if its the best strategy.

The substitutions rule for this game makes it alot more interesting by the looks of things, that is if you have time to look at your team everyday.

Now everyone to their own and all that but IMO the midfield is a bit weak tbh, you only need 3 top strikers so i would put a crap striker instead of one of those top strikers and use the money for a top Midfielder.
But then again if your going for a 4-3-3 then it seems a good squad for that formation

Ok, i'm still slightly confused with this substitution system. Am i right to say that on Friday, i should have all players playing that day in my first XL because if they don't play well i can simply sub them out, however if i leave them on the bench and they play well, i can't sub them in?

Maybe my understanding is completely a*seways, but....

It looks like, you play all the players who are playing first (so I'll have Kaka on the bench vs North Korea, just because they aren't playing on until the 15th), and I'll have Howard in goal vs England, with Julio Cesar on the bench (for the same reason). If they don't do anything (as expected), then you can sub in players that haven't played (in this case, the ones you would think are more likely to get points).

IE: If the gamble doesn't pay off, just sub in players. Only catch being you can't sub in players that have already played.

The whole system seems absolutely nuts to be honest. Hopefully I've just picked it up wrongly?
