So true. I think they are more like a 7.

Does pregnancy make your feet stretch? I was a snug size 8, till after I had my 1st baby when I went up to a 9??????????

My mam and I just spent two hours in town today looking for a comfortable pair of Skechers in a size 8 and there was none. They were for my mam, she finds they're more comfortable than other shoes and I felt so bad for her when every shop told us that 7 was their highest size. I am 8 also and it's a real pain, not just for Skechers. It's also impossible to find D size bras! Anyone else have this issue?

I know how you feel, my sisters foot is broader/a bigger size than me and had to get shoes widened, so it could be a nuisence I'd say. I'm lucky way I guess, I am a size 3 in shoes, and have a narrow foot!

Yes I think it does, I presume it's the progesterone that relaxes the ligaments in your feet. Mine stretched when I was pregnant and they are much wider/flatter then they were pre pregnancy.

That's it, I'm definitely never having children. Hard enough to find shops that stock size eight (though have taken note of the ones listed on this thread, thanks all!), I can't imagine having to find size nine.

I find it extremely frustrating and not a little embarrasing when I ask for a certain type of shoe in an eight to try on and they don't stock that size. It also happened to me in Clarks on Grafton street - I asked for a certain pair of teal shoes to try on (I thought they were kind of quirky) and was informed that they didn't have any of that style bigger than a 6. Some maufacturers don't even make larger women's sizes, it does my head in. 'irregular choice' shoes only go up to a seven for example.

Don't get me started on finding socks that still fit after a few washes. I think I've been wearing Next's mens' socks for about 4 years at this point. As for C/D cups - I detest that most fitted tops are fitted for what must be a B cup and so either stretch to bursting point or gap open on anything larger. Going up a dress size (or two, in dunnes) hardly helps either, as then the rest of the shirt doesn't fit. I'd love to be able to afford to have everything tailored but unfortunately that probably isn't going to happen any time soon. Anyone have any suggestions about good shops to buy shirts etc that fit a C/D cup comfortably in about a size 14?

Bought a really cheap pair of shoes in Dunnes today - size 8, platform, heels, the whole kit and caboodle. They're even a little big for me (nothing an insole and heel grips won't fix), and I'm normally a 9 in heels for the length.

Dunnes changing habits at last?? (They also have some suede-effect peep toes in dusty pink, beige and black in a generous 8 for €15 - wear them once and they're worth it!)

Hi CnaG, don't talk to me about embarrassment, I was recently in a sports shop in Manchester & asked some tiny little shop assistant for a size 9. She snootily looked me up & down & told me to try the mens depart., before flouncing off. My sisters nearly burst a gut laughing. It was funny but still.....grrrr! I find Evans do a pretty ok range of wider fits so I tend to stick to them. As for shirts, I'm currently size bloody FF....8 months after giving birth, and the rest of me is back to normal size. I find Debenhams is good enough for well fitting workshirts though they may not always be the trendiest???

Evans used to do really nice shoes but I've found they've gone very much downhill in recent years

I got a nice pair of shoes for work in Evans today. Have always been a little hesitant to go in there because, you know, (whispers) it's a plus sized shop.

Sorry, that was my general insecurity about being large. But actually, once I went in I was wondering what I had been worried about. The staff in the Liffey valley one were really friendly! And the lady who sold me the shoes has definitely found her vocation :)

amazingly enough, I fit a seven in Evans too because they have wide-fit and my problem with shoes is usually in the width. I notice they have big bras too; I will be back...

EDIT: forgot to say, the shoes were on sale in Evans. Down from €61 to €23.
