Sky Sports have linked us with a 20mil bid for Diego Forlan... Thoughts?

Also, Yaya Toure has agreed terms with an unnamed club (Man City have denied its them), fingers crossed its us though I assume it is Arsenal...

I heard Toure was to be included in a deal for Cesc. As for Forlan, he's proven on the continent but he didn't set the PL alight when he was here last.

We could do worse then Forlan IMHO, champions league experience/decent player.

Form is everything look at the robbie keane of 2007 and now. Do you think we'd be looking at Forlan if we had the old Keane back, point is Forlan could be a totally different player now.

Harry Redknapp is a shock contender to become the next Liverpool manager - as Kenny Dalglish draws up a shortlist of names for the Kop post.
The Tottenham boss is much admired by Dalglish, who has been asked by the Anfield owners to find out who wants the job of replacing Rafa Benitez.
Redknapp's stock has never been higher after leading Spurs to the Champions League, a triumph that ironically went a long way to getting Benitez the sack on Merseyside.
And Redknapp could be tempted away from Tottenham, with friends revealing he is upset that White Hart Lane supremo Daniel Levy has not approached him about a longer and improved contract.
However, there is also the lure of Liverpool, who have the kind of big-name history and glamour that Redknapp has always fancied - and at the age of 63 he is unlikely to get one of the established giants calling for him again.
Redknapp could have to uproot from his Dorset base - a domestic problem that has stopped him moving north in the past - but a two-year deal on top money may ease that pain.
And Redknapp can also count on his friendship with Dalglish to help open the door and make him welcome, with friends claiming he is willing to chase the job.
Dalglish is close to Redknapp and was trusted with taking on his son, Jamie, when he started out on his top-flight football career. The families have been tight ever since.
Redknapp was rated the top manager in England last season - with Fulham's Roy Hodgson also picking up a similar award - and Liverpool could not find a more experienced boss.
The only box he does not tick is his lack of success in Europe, but he has been at clubs where a run in those competitions has been a handicap.

    Harry story wouldn't suprise me , he's mad for the €€€ ....

As for Forlan, cant see us spending 20m on a 30 year old, as good as he may be.

If Harry went I wouldn't want him here anyway he would have to be insane to leave a team on the up to a team seemingly free falling.

It's a nothing story to me TBH.

I totally agree with Ziedth there. Why would King Harry want to go manage a team of no hopers

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Agreed. Useless journalists writing useless news.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭tippspur

I don't think Harry would go to Liverpool and I hope he doesn't,I'd say It's a crap story anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

I'm surprised he hasn't been offered another contract yet to be honest i'd be surprised if they wheren't in talks at the moment.

SSN Reporting that Harry is top of Liverpools list.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Ya would like to see him sign a new contract rather then just saying he's not going anywhere which is what he probably will do but that won't stop the rumours he has an 8.5m compensation clause or something doesn't he? That'd ward off Liverpool fairly lively

IMO Harry will stay at Spurs for 3 reasons

    - why try and fix a mess at Liverpool with no money and tidy up the structure Rafa put in place.

    - He wants access to the south coast to walk his dog on the beach! This was the reason he gave for not taking the Newcastle job so same reasoning here.

    - He has broken into the top 4, why move down the ladder

    We're linked with
    Cahill
    Pienaar
    Huntelar

today but the money there talking about is crazy the one thing we always do is buy within our means and I think this would be well out of our means.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

    Is that Tim Cahill?

I rate him higher then Steven Ireland TBH,

    I wouldn't mind huntelar either

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

    Gary from Bolton actually

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

    Pity,

    He's not bad either though.

We're being linked to every target City are linked to. BIG BUCKS OR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE? I would love Joe Cole at the club though, even if we are a little heavy on that left side.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭Hatch99

Just heard from a decent source that Robbie will be signing for Aston Villa and that the deal has been agreed for a while now !

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

Lol Robbie and Emile up front...

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Good luck to him, I'd say martin could do a job with him.

Harry came out today and said he would live Cole.

I see Martin Petrov is being released by Man City. Wasn't Harry after him about a year back? I know he's in his thirties but I always thought he was quality. Come one 'Arry sign him up!

No thanks, far better options than him to play on the left.

Wasn't it Stylian we were after anyway? Would rather get Joe Cole on board.
