Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OPW Permits - Non-commercial

Bit of an interesting one to pick your thoughts,

I have been asked as a favour to take some group/couple photographs at friend's wedding (They weren't going to bother with any pics, so I glady offered to take a few shots).

The bride would like the primary shots to be at a local OPW state house and the photos would be in the extensive gardens.

Now here's the issue. As I am not a commercial photographer nor am I performing this shoot for any form of reward (I'm a guest at the wedding) technically I don't need a permit to take the shots and more importantly I would not need PI cover of €6.5m, yes?

But, how do I go about convincing an eagle eye grounds keeper that a wedding party being photographed with "professional" equipement is non-commercial? Should I approach the OPW for a permit to cover us on the day but recieve it without providing PI reference given it's a non-commercial activity?

Has anyone recieved a permit from OPW for a similiar situation?

    Regards,
    Seán

doesnt matter if it commercial or non commercial you still need to get permission. Nothing to hard, I got one for shooting in Stephens green.

I don't see where commercial/non-commercial comes into it. Wouldn't you need permission anyway?
Is this house normally open to the public?

Just write to the OPW, giving location, date and time. There is generally no problems at all, and they are very helpful.

Great, that's the kind of re-assurance I think I'm looking for! I phone them in the morning and go through the details, hopefully they will take me at my word.
