Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In fairness it was great work and a great ball in from Kun Aguero.

Hate to see Fulham lose but they have sat back too much for too long. Its been all Atletico in extra time, they wanted it more and they deserve it.

Fulham had about 15 minutes at the start of the second half, then they started playing like they were a man down away from home.

Well done Athletico on winning the trophy.

Well done to Fulham for giving their fans some great moments this season.

Well Atletico certainly didn't threaten to much. But sure, tis over now, good final, good entertainment. For once I didn't feel inclined to turn it off. Fair play Atletico.

Sorry but thats BS in my opinion. Atletico were better in the first half by all means but Fulham were much better in the second. I can't remember a chance of note for Atletico in the second half.
Cruel on Fulham. I think they would have been a more deserving winner instead of a team "relegated" from the Champions League.

They did as much as they could with 8 or 9 men in the box at all times, and eventually it paid off. Aguero is just too good.

Forlan has made this competition his own. Sign him up Fergie! :pac:

Very tight match overall, both sides having their dominant periods, but in the end Atletico just had that extra bit of quality in the final third.

    Agh, hard luck Fulham.

I'm sure if Fulham had another 60 minutes, they'd have it won!

I have to say I came in the door with 14 minutes left and first thing I noticed about the game was that Fulham looked like they were down to 10 men.

Can the last person off the bandwagon close the doors? :)

ahhletico were miles the better team, it was pretty embarrassingly one sided.

    like zenith and rangers tbh

You want to check and see if you actually won, they are usually 90 minutes only bets.

I couldn't watched it, followed the updates.

*sigh* They have done some wonderful stuff from minute 90 to 180 in this competition. My comment was about the fact that it has taken them the second games of two legs to win it and if that had it here, they might have done it in Fulham fashion.

It's clear you wanted Atletico to win but stop nit picking at everyone's posts who think Fulham put it up to them. Coz they did. If they didn't, then there wouldn't have been any need for ET.

I assume for the 'passing of the torch' from Hamburg to Dublin for the next Europa League Final.

They really did just sit back and hope for the best. From 55 minutes onwards they were pretty much only ever going to go through on penalties. No credit for a team that didn't even try to win.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

Wtf, Sergio Asenjo making a statement by wearing his shirt back to front? Might he be a wee bit sore at having lost his spot? Seems like he's going out of his way to remind people he's the #1.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

Fulham spent close to an hour playing for penalties, so in that respect, football justice has been served.

Fair enough. If they didn't try to win, then they probably deserved not to.

I think a lot of the credit is more about the fact that they had come so far despite the odds, it just seems cruel to lose at this stage.

63rd game of the season supposedly. No wonder they were holding on for penalties in extra time.

TV3 just said Fulham won't be in it next year, will they not be there from the Fair Play league?
