I'm going to do the GAMSAT in Sept as a practice run for next year.Is there anywhere in Ireland that runs lectures? Or do I have to go to the UK? And has anyone gone to the UK for lectures?

    Thanks!

You can sit it in the UK in Spetember, the results are useable in Ireland.

Really?? That makes things a lot easier! Excluding travelling, etc. No offence OP!

Gradmed (google it) do courses in Dublin in January time.. think if you want them earlier you would need to travel. Quite expensive too, but according to testimonials, supposed to be worth it.

If you have any confidence in your science skills, I say go it alone - you'll have to get used to working off your own bat anyway once you're in.

Gamsat Tutor Ltd are Ireland’s largest and most specialised provider of preparatory tutorials for the GAMSAT Exam.

Yeah cause there's huge competition! Be careful guys. There is a level of presumed knowledge needed for Section 3 but other than that I'm not sure how grinds-friendly the Gamsat is, and that's from sitting it twice on my own. In my opinion you need time and dedication, not a few grand to have someone tell you what you can work through yourself.

    Hi etymon,

I can understand your point, however even though I am a biochem grad. I feel that I would need to improve on the GAMSAT subjects of Physics and Humanities. Likewise I think a Physic's graduate would need to brush up on biology and chemistry - if for no other reason but for terminology.

I checked out that Irish website www.gamsat.ie if there prices are ok it would be a better option than travelling to the UK esp. since the euro is dropping so fast against sterling.

    Hi,

It's looking like i will be one of those having to do the exam again in Sept because it's looking unlikely that my 58 will be enough for UCC.
Just got details of the gamsat tutor courses running in Dublin this summer.
They seem to be operating along the same kind of lines as gradmed, except for their Irish based with Irish lecturers. Anyone out there done these type courses before? If so did u find them beneficial?

I'm thinking about doing one of those courses too, but they seem so expensive! Personally I'd only really attend the written communications/verbal reasoning class, as there's so many resources available to aid studying the sciences.

However I recently found this: http://www.revisegamsat.com/forum/gamsat-questions/study-materials#p20 and it's amazing.

Or you can request a free Des O'Neill prep course and it outlines some basic strategies to improve essay writing and lists the topics of chem, phys and bio to learn.

I'd also recommend: http://www.gamsat.co.uk/section_3_unit_1.htm but would NOT recommend attempting any questions without having studied extensively beforehand, otherwise it's a bit overwhelming.

I was so lost at first but doing a bit of online research really helped, and is also a whole lot cheaper.

I didn't in the end sign up for the gamsat tutor courses due to various issues (time & money mainly!).
Did anyone sign up and if so how did they find them (or how are you finding them?)

Might consider looking at them in the Autumn

is there any people that give grinds on the gamsat material? just a few before september?!

I don't think there is grind for such a thing. Although I do pay a person to help me correct my essay for a price as English is not my first language.

I wonder if anyone could recommend a good book or website to cover the physic's knowledge required in GAMSAT.

    Thanks

The physics is pretty basic, A level grade

I used AS Physics in a week and A2 Physics in a week books,

got a 79 in section III so they worked well for me!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/AS-In-a-Week-Physics/dp/1843155877

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/A2-Week-Physics/dp/1843158175/ref=pd_sim_b_1

cheap and cover more than you need to know.
