Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i'd recommend a Western Digital Elements, biko  i've one of them and it's done me for the past 2 years. i personally wouldn't go with iomega or seagate but that's just me. i find WD's last the longest. my brother had a seagate HD but it died after about half a year, and that just put me off them. my brother now has one of those WD My Book drives and it's done him longer than my Elements one.

the important thing to note with external hard drives is not to move them while they're on. their life is increased a lot by doing this. i don't move mine around a lot, just keep it in the one place all the time. same with my brother's My Book drive.

EDIT: there's also this backup software on cnet - Easeus Todo Backup
i've it on mine and it seems good enough, although i usually back up my files manually because i don't make changes often to my files. Just the odd film backup or so

All drives fail at some stage so i just tell people to pick the cheapest one with an acceptable warranty.
