Anyone know a good forest in North Galway to bring the kids?
Could even be in south Mayo.
Want to go for walks on a nice day out.
Choices seem limited or maybe i'm missing out on places?

There is a small walk next to Ashford castle.
    A thread from Outdoors

Btw, Diamond Hill Walk isn't a forest walk but good

There is a nice forest walk in Mountbellew but there is an excellent one in Clonbur which was developed by Coillte. It loops around so your starting point is also your finishing. Great at this time of year when there are leaves on the trees.

Check out the Coillte site, it gies details of all their forest walks.
Cong Woods/Ashford Castle is directly connected to Clonbur Woods by a path that only crosses 1 road. Goes under the others. In total you have about 15km of forestry path.
Also there are new paths in the area under Mount Gable/BenLey near Clonbur which go up and around Lough Coolin

I think the grounds of Ballinahinch Hotel are open to the public arent they?

How about climbing a few of the 12 pins? Not many trees up there though...

The walk around Moore hall near Cong is lovely. Loads of history and historic buildings, if you are taking kids, you can do a bit of research, and make it a real living history walk.

If you head east a bit, you have the woods in Monivea. Ballygar has some nice wood walks. You also might want to check out the Suck Valley Way, 100k of walks going through woods, lovely fields, and along rivers and turloughs.

I think this is sneaking into East Galway but check out Monivea Woods, great for a family walk.

The Coillte website has good ideas: www.coillteoutdoors.ie and www.mykidstime.ie as well
