Does anyone know why the BBC and ITV/Channel 4 pictures which can be got from the mast on top of the Comeragh Mountains are turned off at night and not turned back any morning till between 8-15 and 8-30. Was not aware this was happening till someone that was up for a few nights recently said it. They said they ended up watching some crap on RTE. Said if the BBC was on they could have had news or something on. Not everyone has access to sky, and depend on signals from an aerial to get the british channels. Also why is the BBC1 picture so bad from the mast.

Perhaps nobody is paying for it. A mast costs money to run.

Sky isn't needed for British channels. A cheap satellite system for €100 would get you all the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 channels free.
