Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking for qualified carpenter to do an attic conversion. The size of the attic is 10x16ft looking to get it converted into one big room with 2 velux windows and a stairs.. Support work needs to be done on the roof and removing old joices. Will get materials, plumber & plasterer myself, just want to get reasonable quote on labour price alone. Want to get it done before August. No time wasters please.

That Site is down - Maybe give him a call and he prob has a brochure with photos of past work.

Think I browsed the Site before and it does look like high end stuff.....

    - There a thread here from just over a year ago which may help.

His work is excellent. He did my attic and I was amazed at the quality of his work if I am to be honest. There are some nice examples on his website.

Would no harm to discuss what you have in mind with him, and get a quote on it.

Who supplies the cert? You or an architect/Chartered Building Surveyor that works with your company?

independant structural engineer supplies the cert or you can choose any structural engineer to survey our work and we carry the cost.

Thanks for that. It is just that a lot of people do not know who the work has to be certified by and often get hoodwinked by cowboys who provide their own "cert".

At least when people hear that the cert of Compliance will be issued through the correct channels they know that they are dealing with company who are following the correct legal guideline, and as such the work will add to the value of the house, have no issues when it comes round to when they sell the house, and it will meet fire and building regulations.

i thought you couldn't convert an attic of 2 storey house for bedroom usage, something about fire escapes and exits. Anyone clarify this?

there are fire regulations which are easily adhered to, a top opening rooflight 1100mm max from floor and fire rated doors with closers being the main ones

    Hi bubbles,

I found a company last year that were excellent. they were called Loft Converters. they were so professional, all the electricians were registered with RECI and the plumber was registered for gas, so i had no worries of anything going wrong. the were really clean too, hoovered up every night before leaving! try 061 324715 or www.loftconvertersireland.com they are worth looking up. Im a single mum and hated have a load of lads in the house while i was gone to work, but they were really polite and respectful. i could only highly recommend them. ...good luck!!

    Hi Bubbles,

Who did you get to do this for you, and how did it go?
I am looking at getting the same done at the moment.
