Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't see a thread for charleville ideas so I'll stick this here. Feel free to move.

I had the thought that it might be fun to do some pitch black IR photography in the castle. I've had a quick look, and there are cheap enough torches out there - http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.913 for example. I don't have the first idea about the tech though. Are these in the too-cheap-to-be-useful category? And does the wavelength matter a lot? I'm assuming the lower the number (after 720nm) the better? And would anyone be willing to be shot with the ghosties?

most strobes output vast quantities of IR, so you could stick an IR filter in front of the strobe and go nuts. All your victims subjects will see if anything is a dim red *spronk*

Not exactly what I was thinking Tallon. Infrared light is (almost) invisible to the human eye, so you'd be pretty much in the dark for the shots. Just thought it might be fun to try, given the setting. I'm not doing it on my own though!

@daire - just looking there. Apparently developed unexposed slide film works very well taped to a normal flashlight. You any idea what the biggest slide neg size is?

well, anything up to 8x10 inches I guess though that might be a little much. Do you not have an SFX filter ? That'd do the job and its a Cokin P, right ? so easily big enough to tape or jimmy somehow in front of the flash.

Was just looking at the price of 8x10 in B&H  ahem.. yep I have filters but not Cokin. I have an 82mm 720 and 900 so I'm thinking a blue peter job with a couple of big feck-off lights and some insulating tape may well be the best way alright. Excellent :D

Edit: Actually I'm just thinking: If it's indoors and the only light source is the torches, then I don't have to have a filter on the lens, so I could use three or four flashlights and the 52mm filters I have as well and do a proper multiple light studio set up... Hmmm... Brain now working...
