^ ooh, my mate has been doing his degree and spending a whole rake of cash for the last 4 years, with the intention of staying here as a PR, as possibly for the rest of his life!

With this change, does that mean all that time is wasted? or does it only apply to new students?

    272311 Clinical psychologist
    272312 Educational psychologist
    272313 Organisational psychologist

Chances are he could be ok. There are more psychologist roles in there

If he has a job lined up then this will help

The reason why they cut so much is that they wanted to fill the jobs rather than people just doing a year course in hairdressing and not having a job.

Oh by the way, if you are getting an employer sponsored PR you don't need a skills assessment if you are working in that occupation for 2 years and at least 1 of the years has been with the current employer

Ugh, pretty muh has me covered in everything but name. I've no idea how I'd be fixed for skills assessment under these.

I hope testing falls under 'Software Engineer". On the old list "Computer Professional" was the way to go, covered pretty much everything IT related.

    Would technical support be covered?

to be honest, i'd be very surprised if testing or tech support would come in under any of the new headings

Ah bugger. I'm answering phones here doing IT Support. Just started this new job about 3/4 weeks ago, and only took it coz i asked them at the interview about sponsorship and they were all for it.

Guess I'll be home in August so....

Not necessarily, the SOL only covers occupations for the skilled migrant visas, there's a longer list called the ENSOL that covers the list of occupations that employers are allowed sponsor people in.

I've had a look at that and Computing Support Technician is on there, so I reckon you're grand if they're willing to sponsor you.

As a matter of interest does anyone know if they are going to be looking at the ENSOL list in the comming years? Any changes proposed to the ENS?

Nice one, I am a Telecommunications Engineer looking to move to Australia... I think my time has come :-)

Does anyone know how much the total fee's are, when applying directly?

And also, can you apply for a SMV whilst on a WHV and in Australia?
