Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

picture package alternative?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, sorry if its wrong!

I have a handycam Handycam DC-HC20E and the picture package program is brutal.
I would like to get the video footage onto the laptop / dvd and keep the resolution but PP doesn't keep it and it is really blurry.

Are there any other programs that are better than PP that I could use?

    Thanks!

What connection are you using? It's been a while but far as I recall it has to be firewire ( I think sony call it "iLink, your PC will probably call it IEEE 1394) for full DV, the USB connection only gives you half-res video. I used the Windows Movie Maker app (y'know, the one that's pre-installed on XP) to pull the footage in from my handycam, didn't have any problems with the resolution. Storage space, now that's another story :)

If memory serves, the Sony cameras don't come with a firewire cable, you have to source it separately.

Thanks Banjo, I will look for a iLink cable as the half res is no use!
