I've seen similar posts to this but still am no clearer on the difference between the courses on offer, and hope someone in the field might be able to offer advise.

I'm interested in studying hypnosis/hypnotherapy and after whittling down the masses of information out there, I'm unclear on which of the following three would be the best. I can gather that there is no regulation at this time, but I would appreciate feedback on what course is viewed as the most comprehensive.

    http://www.hypnosisacademy.ie/training.asp
states that it will lead to a Practitioner Diploma Course in Clinical Hypnotherapy, accredited by the IHA

    This one http://hypnosistrainingireland.ie/ngh-hypnosis-certification
states you will be entitled to use the letters C.H. (Certified Hypnotist/Hypnotherapist afterwards (is this more credible?) I cant find mention of the IHA on this

Lastly there is this one: http://www.hypnosiseire.com
with this one, it seems to be more focused on psychotherpy, particularly the section referring to the need to upgrade to gain accreatation with the EAHP and government registration for psychotherspy. If this this is very focused on the psychotherapy end, it wouldn't be for me, but it sounds very credible in terms of registration.

Theres another couple like http://www.clinicalhypnosis.ie who seem very similar in the training, but are unclear on what the qualification is so I'm wary of going with them.

All these courses cost a lot, and I don't want to waste this on a qualifcation that is viewed as insufficent within the field. I would also like one that offers continuous training after the initial course. Another thing to note is that it is likely that I'll be moving to the US in two years time, so I would want one that is recognised there as a legitimate qualification.

Any advise would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

My advice is to go with the one which has the least nonsense attached to it. For example the hypnosistrainingireland thing about being able to to use C.H. after your name. Hypnotherapy is an unregulated profession, you can put any letters after your name that you want, it means nothing.

Hypnosiseire are the ICHP and people who do their 1 year diploma are going around calling themselves psychotherapists which is ridiculous, but again psychotherapy isn't a statutorily regulated profession either.

All of the qualifications are called a diploma, but to be honest they are all self-awarded by private companies and have no university or state accreditation, they might as well be called professorships. There are no qualifications considered sufficient or insufficient in the field, the field is largely populated by people by yahoos.

The clinicalhypnosis.ie course is taught by graduates of the hypnosisacademy.

At the end of the day it probably doesn't matter a great deal which course you choose. If I had to recommend one I would recommend hypnosis academy. I did that one, and the tutor is superb.

Thanks for that hotspur, that was the one I liked the look at the most, but wanted to get some feedback on it. Is there much further training offered through them after the basic diploma?

They have regular workshops. Next month for example there is a 2 day training for graduates on applying CBT in hypnotherapy. ICHP do more post graduate stuff than they do, but then again I believe ICHP's post grad stuff is open to those who trained with other bodies.

Have checked hypnosis schools and would like advice or stories from people who went through the program with Irish Hypnosis Ltd. Their base is Bewleys Hotel Clondalkin. Discretion assured.
