Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Youtube keeping picture in a small window for HD....?

Why does youtube keep their videos in the same window for viewing HD videos...? My laptop only has 768 vertical pixels altogether, so it is obviously not 720p when it's in that small window.

It's just automaticallydownscaled to an arbitrary number depending on the size of the browser on your screen. It could be 420p or 520p, but definitely not 720p when it's only taking up a fraction of a screen that has ~768 vertical pixels in total.

I bet there are many people out there who think that that's 720p, when it's still inside in the little box, it says it's 720p so people are going to assume that's what it is...

To display the youtube video at the exact size you have set it to (360p, 480p, 720p) you have to click the two arrows at a right angle next to the size.

Also if you right click and "Show video info" you will see the exact resolution of the video with bitrate etc.
