    Hi folks,

i am heading to rathmullan for a week in july. i have never been in that area. I will have the spinning rod with me and am looking for any advice on where to go within a reasonable radius of the village. I dont want anyone to give away their secret spots but just looking for a bit of general guidance.

Rathmullan is probably donegal's most popular spot for pier fishing. The pier is situated just a few hundred yards from the centre of the village and is usually good for mackerel. Late evening as it is getting dark usually yield a few small pollock. There is also a long beach that has a few marks for bottom fishing. If you're lucky you might even come up with the occasional thornback from distance casting. Dogfish and a range of flatties are also a regular catch.

    Best of luck.
