Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I'm looking in to doing a bike mechanics course . Would be looking at doing something that has maybe a city and guilds or something to that effect. Is there any course here that caters for this , and also has anyone gone over to the Uk to do a course. If so could you reccomend some where . Thanks

    Hi,

Not sure what your current abilities are regarding bike mechanics, but Wheelworx in Dublin often carry out courses on bike maintenance and I think they cover some of the mechanics too. There wouldn't be any certs or anything like that but it might be a good starting point for you if you aren't already more advanced than what they offer. You should check into it on their website if you're interested and I believe they are free courses too.

Let us know how you get on with your course, its something I might just be interested in myself.

    Good luck with the search.

There is no registered accreditation in the ROI for bike mechanic courses.

Eg you can't do a course that will give you any meaningful certificate. You have to go to the UK, tis a 2 week course and costs a grand...

I heard about a two day weekend course in the UK. Think its for MTB but most of it applies to road im sure.
I was told the company but cant remember the name. Ill try find it and post back.

There are courses you can go on but if you want to be a 'fully qualified bike mechanic' the course is 2 weeks, its accredited by city and guilds in the UK and there's no formal equivilant here.

If you just want to do a course to learn about fixing / building bikes though, Rothar (www.rothar.ie) does them, based in phibsborough, they have a fixie building workshop coming up soon, too..
