    Hi all
I'm looking for a fully house-trained collie/ border collie, maybe 1-2 years old. The dog is for my father, whose faithful border collie passed away last year. He has a big garden and the dog will get plenty of exercise. He/she does need to be well trained and (reasonably) obedient with no "issues"!

If any of you have or know of a dog that may suit please let me know. We are based in Wicklow, but can travel for the right dog.

    Many thanks
    Blair Somers

Dogs Trust and the DSPCA have loads of lovely dogs at the moment, as do most of the ISPCAs around the country, all looking for homes.

Thanks for the posts guys - for some reason, he is reluctant to take a dog from a home or shelter becuase of it's past history - even though there may be nothing to worry about. Me, I'd take six dogs home from every dogs home in the country!!!

I guess what he wants is to get in touch with a family that can't keep the pet any longer for whatever reason or even an older person who croaks it and the dog needs a new home. I know that these dogs generally end up in the pound anyway but....

    Cheers anyway

Ask him to contact some of the groups mentioned above with what he's looking for and the next time someone rings them trying to rehome a collie they'll contact your father. Saves on a dog taking up a rescue space and your father gets what he wants.

Unfortunately though he's more likely to get a good appraisal of a dog from a shelter. Some people do lie when they're rehoming their dogs just so they can get rid of them and at least if he homes through a shelter he'll be able to bring the dog back.

    BORDER COLLIE PUPPY- GALWAY

Hi, we have almost 4 months old border collie kind of puppy. He has no pedigree ,but is very nice and smart and his both parents are collies. We got used to him already and we like him a lot and we will miss him for a long time. frown.gif

The thing is he needs A LOT of attention and time. I train ,play with him every day betweet time when he sleeps and if I dont give him non stop ,100% attention he goes crazy. frown.gif I know we should know this before taking puppy and I am aware this decision was reckless ,but I hope its not to late to find the right people for him. I will only give him away to responsible experienced with pupies or collies person. I can't even think about him ending up in pound -in that case we would keep him and try to find way to make him and our selfs happy in this situation. I am very confused and angry wth myself that I cant cope frown.gif and feel responsible for him.
He is fully vaccinated ,wormed , makes progress every day with training.
We will only consider serious and reliable offers from people who are aware of the fact that dog is a big commitment, needs lot of time ,sometimes money. Perfect person would be someone who would keep him at home (he got used to this already) and who would train with him agility, frisbee etc.
If you know a lot about collies ,have lots of time and think about dog as friend for life, please pm me and I can send you some photos.
