Sky visit all the major Irish ISPs and chat with them maybe once a year.

Up till now coverage is too poor or too expensive with any one ISP for Sky.

About 1/3rd or more of UK exchanges have Sky LLU. Sky subscribers get a better deal on those exchanges. Originally unlike UK NTL, now Virgin, Chorus & Irish NTL internet was patchy and poor, Now that UPC has considerable Broadband rolled out, Sky may be prepared to break even or slight loss on BB via DSL or DSL + something so as to compete on "triple play" with UPC to protect TV subscriber base.

Sky must be losing customers to UPC, actually id switch off sky and go all UPC if i could, just so they had another lost customer, competition is good but people have to vote with their wallets.

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

This is nothing to do with the home user. Sky own the network company Easynet and they provide managed networks to business customers. They are just going to use Magnet as their networks partner in Ireland.

For example, if a UK company wants Easynet to install network links between all their offices, but one of the offices is in Dublin - then they will use Magnet for this link.

So, forget about Sky DSL for now guys...
