Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Be good for Atletico to make a Double out of it.

    They easily could.

I wonder how many people will see the title thread later and think they've missed the game. :D

    I put down a €5 @25/1 on Sevilla/Atletico.

Hopefully it is a good game and more importantly i gets me some money!:)

Typo in thread title, seems to be part of Atletico Madrid's name missing.

Pfft, if you're doing nicknames it's Los Colchoneros ;)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I really hope Sevilla win this. I have grown a deep dislike towards Atleti this season.

Atleti for the double. forza los indios.
I've an odd sense of deja vu

eh, shows what you know. Many teams in Spain have several nicknames and I can assure you that "Atleti" is a very common nickname for Atletico Madrid. Have you ever been to the Vicente Calderon ? I have on at least half a dozen occasions and can tell you that the fans sing "Atleti, Atleti" the merchandise ie: flags, t-shirts and scarfs are all sold with "Atleti" emblazond on them and the fact I lived in Madrid for the past four years I can guarantee you that you are 100% wrong.

Was looking forward to watching this but I have to work tonight now.

I reckon Atletico for the double.

Great buzz in Madrid for this one. Someone said there's at least 50,000 Atleti fans heading to Barca for this one.

I can't wait. Hopefully, Sevilla's game at the weekend took a lot out of them. I think winning the Europa final in the way they did will help Atleti. It showed that they could relax and still get the job done, even if the other team strikes back.

    May I ask why?

    May I ask why?

My guess is that since they beat Barca in february that set them on a run of very poor performances for the next 6 weeks.

Agree with redout, in Spain they would be commonly known as atleti. Like
Shelbourne would be known as Shels here. Los indios (the indians) and los colchoneros (the mattress makers) would be other nicknames the club woild be known as, like Shels are also known as the real reds or the auld reds.

ATLÉTICO: De Gea; Ujfalusi, Perea, Domínguez, Antonio López; Assunçao, Tiago, Reyes, Simao; Forlán Agüero

SEVILLA: Palop; Konko, Escudé, Squillaci, Luna; Renato, Zokora, Navas, Capel; Negredo Kanouté

They were in fine voice in the metro stations I was going through on the way home (luckily in opposite direction - I'm watching this on teevee with a few beers :-)

Many more Atleti fans than Sevillianos.

    I reckon its 90,000+.

Did notice a few empty seats up top but capacity is 98,000.

Capel annoys me. He is a right bitch. Great player, but total twat as well.

Palop looking decidedly dodgy tonight. Atleti really should have scored at least once......

Where is the goal fest that I was hoping for? :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

How in Gods name have Atleti not yet scored?

Some miss from Negredo earlier. Unreal pass from Kanoute.

Excellent game despite the shortage of goals.

Been a good final all the same.
